*bounces around the room* So, I got the aforementioned test back, and it was my lowest in the class so far: a 91. However, most of the class was really annoyed because they all got 75's, and a lot of the questions were worded rather ambiguously, and some of it was stuff that no one was going to remember. I'm happy with my grade. Especially since when I got back to my room, I had a voicemail from my sister saying to call her ASAP. She had been talking to Phil, and he all but said he likes me as more than a friend. I had written in his honesty box (this thing on facebook that lets you send anonymous messages), "Phil, you're really adorable. ^_^" And he told my sister about this message, and said it seemed like something I would say, like my style of speaking/typing. So my sister said that he should just ask me, and he replied with the "but what if it wasn't her?" And my sister said, "Well, do you want it to be her?" And he said something along the lines of "yes," and my sister just proceeded to insist that he talk to me about it. So that's really exciting. ^_^

^_^ Yeah, I'm pretty happy about it. So now I just have to wait and see if he does anything about it. (I'm not going to make any moves until I'm home for the summer because let's face it, we're 500 miles apart. I have no objections if he makes a move though.)

You will be floating even though you are five hundred miles apart. Besides, you have been on the right track with your intuition regarding Phil. :D

lol that's always encouraging. The problem is that Ian completely destroyed my ability to distinguish between friendly acts and flirty acts, because he would do stuff that would make anyone think he was flirting, but he was just being friendly. So now I make it a point to assume everything is simply friendly unless I have a really good reason to think otherwise. The trick now is going to be getting Phil to make a move, because he's one of the shy types that's afraid to make a move for fear of being rejected. Or at least getting him to directly tell my sister that he likes me. Because if he does that, she's allowed to tell him. Although I really might as well give her permission to tell him now. Ah well. It'll work itself out somehow.

Haha :P In all reality, the hardest part is going to be next semester. So far, we've spent very little time in person, and we're used to just talking online. But over the summer, we're going to get used to seeing each other in person on a regular basis. So come fall semester, we'll actually really miss each other.

*screammmmmmmmmmmmssssssssssssss with pure happiness*

How cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*knows this is going to be a really great weekend for Jesusfreak, as she is going to float through the weekend*

Yeah, I'm pretty happy about it. So now I just have to wait and see if he does anything about it. (I'm not going to make any moves until I'm home for the summer because let's face it, we're 500 miles apart. I have no objections if he makes a move though.)

You will be floating even though you are five hundred miles apart. Besides, you have been on the right track with your intuition regarding Phil.

lol that's always encouraging.

Your sister can be a great asset.

LOL LOL

BTW, I apologize for not saying congratulations on the fantastic grade!!! You did outstanding. You should feel great for this accomplishment.

Haha yeah she is. And thank you! ^_^ I'm talking to Phil on aim now (he had to leave for a minute). And just the stuff he's saying makes it so obvious. And I want to say something. But at the same time I don't. And I'm like AAAAAHHHH! ^_^ Haha.

*bonks Jesusfreak in the forehead*

At least drop a hint that he is heading in the right direction!

Well, apparently I did, because he actually asked me out. ^_^

Outstanding!!! Now I have a smile on my face. :)

So, when are you both planning on going out?

lol well then you should see the grin plastered on mine. :D Unfortunately, we probably won't see each other until May when we get out of college for the summer.

*dusts off the cobwebs on the old cliche book*

Let's see... 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'. :P

Haha :P In all reality, the hardest part is going to be next semester. So far, we've spent very little time in person, and we're used to just talking online. But over the summer, we're going to get used to seeing each other in person on a regular basis. So come fall semester, we'll actually really miss each other.

Do you have any more breaks in the next semester? If so, do they match up with Phil's?

Nope, at least not that I'm aware of. We both have a long winter break between semesters, and a spring break (which this past year didn't line up), but that was it. However, by next semester Phil should have his license and a car, and I should have a car, so we can visit each other when we don't have weekends that are too busy.

Phil is almost too good to be true. Of course you realize that if you ever have a problem, there are no family members who will be on your side. LOL

^_^ <-----understatement of the century

Outstanding!!! Now I have a smile on my face.

So, when are you both planning on going out?

lol well then you should see the grin plastered on mine. Unfortunately, we probably won't see each other until May when we get out of college for the summer.

*dusts off the cobwebs on the old cliche book*

Let's see... 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'.

Haha In all reality, the hardest part is going to be next semester.

I see you have been thinking about this.

lol Phil and I have been *talking* about this.

Even better!!!

lol yep. :) This whole situation is just really sweet. Like I can tell he's *really* happy about this, and my sister is really happy about it because Phil is like a brother to her, and everyone just seems happy about it, which is kinda neat. Who would have thought that something that makes me this happy would make so many other people happy too?

Phil is almost too good to be true. Of course you realize that if you ever have a problem, there are no family members who will be on your side. LOL

lol it's pretty amazing. The more I talk to him, the more I find we have in common. And having family support it is definitely a good thing. My family loves Phil. ^_^

Yeah for positive outcomes.

That too. I think that at some point I'll have to go with Tommy to watch one of the ballroom competitions. Because if Tommy sees that I'm okay with Phil dancing with other girls, he might be more okay with Jenny dancing with other guys, and he'll specifically be okay with Jenny dancing with Phil. It's just kind of difficult for a lot of people to grasp that dancing together doesn't have to be a romantic thing, although it certainly can be.

I don't think Tommy sees the romance, but he sees a closeness that he doesn't share with Jenny.

Although it is silly, I am guessing that he feels a bit inadequate as he is not her dance partner.

Yeah, I pretty much chalked it up to typical male insecurity.

Exactly my thinking.

Yeah, I told Jenny that too. It's kinda hard because I can understand why Tommy would be concerned, but at the same time I know that he has absolutely nothing to worry about. And now that Phil is my boyfriend, Tommy really has nothing to worry about. :P

lol I don't know. Tommy is a pretty logical guy, I think after awhile he'll figure it out. Plus next year he'll be at the same college as Jenny, which is going to help things a lot.

Oh, right, I have a topic. The past couple days have been really nice and warm. It's supposed to get up to 80 degrees tomorrow. ^_^ I already have a bit of a tan, which is good, because that means I won't get nasty burns this summer. After tomorrow, I only have one week left of classes! Which also means I have massive amounts of work to get done. >_< I have a choir concert on the 27th, a final exam May 1st, and after that I think I can go home. And see Phil. Who has been occupying most of my attention whether I'm talking to him or not.

This semester seemed to fly by! For you and everyone else with exams looming, I'm sure it did not go fast, especially the next couple weeks.

One week remaining... SWEEEEEEEEET !!!!!!!!

Seeing Phil... SWEEEEEEETER !!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty much. I'm still amazed at how fast time is moving. And while I'm glad that it's almost summer vacation, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about time in general moving this fast.

Yes, it was quite enjoyable! When I got to the Imagine mosaic thing, I had been walking for a while, (in flip flops!) had a backpack on my back, it was warm, etc, but when i was standing there, everything else just faded away. I felt (yes!) at peace.

And my friend showed me this awesome icon for john: //0-0\\

Today was really warm out. Like over 80 degrees. Tomorrow it's supposed to be up to 85 degrees. We went out to get Italian ice again today. ^_^ And now we're in the lounge playing rock band. XD You might not hear from me (much) the next couple days, as I have a massive pile of homework that needs to get done next week. >_<

So much work. *collapses* I finally finished studying for my quiz, and am now part way through my powerpoint slides I need to get done. The powerpoint slides are mostly just copy/pasting things and editing some photos to make it look like we knew what we were doing, so it's mostly brainless. Just time consuming. >_< So now I'm taking a quick break to do my usual run around the internet. :)

I have 1337 internet searching skillz. I amaze myself. Sometime yesterday I realized I have to teach a mini lesson in my education class tonight. And of course I had forgotten about it, and as such didn't have time to get ahold of the materials I wanted for my demonstration. And I then figured I could do a different lesson, but it was way more boring, and wouldn't really work well for a mini lesson because it involved a long-term project. But then in a stroke of brilliance I remembered the wonder of online videos, and managed to find a video of the demonstration I wanted to do on youtube. Same visual effect, less materials and mess I have to deal with, and everyone wins! :D

Nice. :D So, yesterday was interesting. Finding that video was probably the best part of my day outside of talking to Phil last night before I went to sleep. The rest of the day kinda stunk. Despite getting 8 hours of sleep, I was totally exhausted all day (yet the day before I was full of energy and running on 6 hours of sleep  ). I woke up tired and could barely stay awake during class. On the way to lunch and back I felt like I was going to pass out, so I took a nap before class which helped a bit. Our psych film presentation went well enough. After that was dinner, which I left early because I was in a bad mood (being tired makes me a rather unpleasant person to be around). When I got back I talked to Phil for a little bit, which cheered me up a bit. Then right as I was getting to go to class, my mom called. So I talked to her on my way to class. Apparently, Grandma was found walking around outside in her bathrobe. Mom took her car keys away a few days ago, and apparently grandma got the idea to walk over to Ken and Kathy's (uncle and aunt), which is within walking distance. But she got lost on her way over, and some guy asked her if she was lost, and gave her directions to get home. So she got home fine and called Uncle Ken to tell him what happened. So with that, they were like, "Uh....we were just going for a walk ourselves! We'll come and get you! ^_^" So she's at their house now. And of course now my mom is panicking because if Grandma's going to be walking around outside in her bathrobe alone, she can't stay in her house by herself anymore. So my mom is frantic trying to get the house in order for Grandma to come live with us. And because my room is much cleaner than my sister's, my room is getting moved out for grandma, and I'm going to have to share a room with my sister (I'm not thrilled about that, but we don't exactly have any other options right now). On top of being really tired, this phone call was rather upsetting to me and I was near tears by the time I got to class. I did my mini-lesson, and did a rather bad job of it (it's hard asking middle school level questions to college students that know the answers), but my professor thought it was good anyways, and gave everyone in the class perfect marks. I later explained why I was so out of it, and he was okay with it. When I got back to class, I talked with Phil for awhile and explained to him what was going on. And let me tell you, that man is amazing. I was about to have a mental breakdown and start crying, but by the time I went to sleep, he had me laughing out loud, and I went to sleep with a grin on my face that couldn't be moved. :D And last night as I was trying to fall asleep, I had a brilliant idea about moving into my sister's room. We both have a lot of stuff, and hardly enough room in our own rooms, so being crammed into one room isn't going to be great. However, we have an unfinished attic upstairs that's used for storage. I'm wondering how hard it would be to section off and insulate part of the attic above Jenny's room, and make it into livable space. That would free up a lot of room, and it would be so cool! I'll have to call dad and tell him my idea later. ^_^ But now I have to go get ready for class.

I can understand your mother's panic. Finishing off the attic with insulation, sheetrock, etc is easy. It would be the electrical part that I would be unable to do, but there are electricians for that. I like your attic idea. Pretty stellar! It's nice to know you have an understanding professor, but I think you probably did much better than you think as you seem to be your worst critic. Phil sounds like a great guy and has wonderful abilities to help put a smile on your face. I think you need to keep this guy around for a long time. :D

I have 1337 internet searching skillz. I amaze myself. LOL Sometime yesterday I realized I have to teach a mini lesson in my education class tonight.

Oh, I intend to. He's pretty amazing. ^_^ As for the lesson, my concept was fine, but my presentation was bad. I know that I could have done better if circumstances were a bit better and I had more time to prepare. Thankfully, our professor was looking more at the concepts and thought that went into it. As for the attic thing, I know Dad can do the electrical part, it shouldn't be too tough. Plus all of this will get accomplished over the summer, so we don't need to worry about the house freezing while we do it. I'll probably call dad in about a half hour to talk to him about it. I'm not sure if he'll agree with it though, because a lot of other things around the house need to get fixed up too. I do plan on helping out though. I might even be getting paid for it. ^_^ Which reminds me, I had an idea today that I might look into perhaps getting a job as a forest ranger for the summer. How cool would that be? I remember that's what I wanted to be when I grew up when I was little.

It is! ^_^ Who knows? Maybe I can even get a job as a forest ranger during the summers when I'm a teacher too. Kinda funny, Phil was just saying something today about going hiking this summer. Apparently someone gave him a book about the 51 best trails in CT or something like that, so we'll have to check that out. ^_^ I also got some good news about my room situation. My parents decided (by which I mean came to their senses) that it would be silly to move me into Jenny's room when Jenny's not even going to be home for most of the summer, and I am. So she's at home now to clean out her room, and move some of her stuff into my room. Dad says that since it's warm out now, Jenny will probably sleep on the day bed on the front porch (which is screened in) until she goes to camp, and I get to stay in my room. I'm just going to have to move things to fit both of our stuff in there. And then we're going to have to work something out for the winter vacation next year, but that's a ways off. I also told Dad about the attic idea, and he responded with, "Do you have any idea how hot the attic gets?" He also said something about the attic being only 3'-4' tall, so there's really no space up there (not like I need it, I'm only 5'1" and I'd probably just be sleeping/sitting up there anyways). I might mention the idea again once we're home as a possibility for the winter, because then the heat wouldn't really be a problem. Okay, back to working on fixing my paper (they want me to cite sources for ideas I came up with on my own, and make my paragraphs more concise despite the fact that I'm already under the minimum page requirement).

Glad to hear your room situation is working out more to your liking. The summer forest ranger idea seems like a really great one. It would be nice if you could manage to work the summers in the forest and teach in the winters.

As for the paper... sources for ideas. Where do teachers think up these things? LOL

LOL

I can understand why they want sources, but some of the stuff is really common knowledge, and some of it is just my own reasoning, that I based off of my own logic and reasoning instead of taking it from someone else (apparently students aren't capable of independent thought?). But whatever. It's done now, and I'm going to sleep. ^_^

The two people I know are blissfully happy with their job. They just love getting up and going to work. Now that is very cool!!!

It is! Who knows? Maybe I can even get a job as a forest ranger during the summers when I'm a teacher too. Kinda funny, Phil was just saying something today about going hiking this summer. Apparently someone gave him a book about the 51 best trails in CT or something like that, so we'll have to check that out. I also got some good news about my room situation. My parents decided (by which I mean came to their senses) that it would be silly to move me into Jenny's room when Jenny's not even going to be home for most of the summer, and I am. So she's at home now to clean out her room, and move some of her stuff into my room. lol I slept well, but not nearly for long enough. Today I get to spend most of my free time studying for my developmental psych final tomorrow (which should just be like the regular tests which I did well on, plus some questions from past tests). And tomorrow I get to write my psych film paper. Saturday will be lots of packing, Sunday is choir concert and my parents taking home most of my stuff. Lots of craziness.

Good luck on your test. When I read about the psych film paper... Alfred Hitchock's "The Birds" came to mind. A little off track, but well, what can I say.

It seems like all you do is pack, unpack, pack, unpack. I'm not even involved and the packing/unpacking is wearing me out. So I can only imagine how you feel.

Classes are over for the semester! Now I just need to finish my papers and one last exam, and I get to go home. I'm taking a short break from my psych film paper right now. I've been working on it since I finished dinner, and it's getting difficult to keep my eyes open. I'm more than half way done, but I would like to finish it before I go to sleep so I don't have to worry about it on Sunday, because dad's coming here with the truck to pick up my stuff and see my choir concert. (Apparently mom already went and got Grandma, so she's at my house now, and mom won't be coming to the concert. As such, dad can only take one car. This means I'll be taking the minivan home myself.) My exam is on Thursday, and I think I'm probably going to go home that day, as long as I'm not really tired or anything (which I shouldn't be). Then I can unpack, get organized, spend some time with my family, and go visit Phil. I'll still have homework to do though. I've got education stuff I need to do/revise by the 6th. But at least I'll be home. :)

Thanks :) Psych film paper still isn't done, but it's mostly done. I'll have to finish it tomorrow. I still can't get over all the stuff I have. My room looks like it exploded. Luckily, my roomie will be out at a formal dance of some sort until late, so I've got time to have the room be a mess.

Let's hope her date keeps her out until the wee hours of the morning. This way she will sleep really late in the morning and give you the quiet you need to finish your paper.

She doesn't have a date, I don't think. I'm pretty sure she just went with a bunch of friends. I probably will get up at noon tomorrow, because I have to be at the chapel somewhere between 1 and 1:30 for the concert. Paper writing will happen after Dad's gone with my stuff.

Have fun at your concert.

Noon??? If I woke up at noon, I would probably think I lost half the day.

Have fun at your concert.

Keep in mind, college is like another time zone. Noon is like about 9am for normal people. I also went to bed at 3am (which is, admittedly, later than I had planned on going to sleep).

Wonderful news! Good luck on your psych film paper. I'm sure you will do great on it.

I have always been a four to six hour sleeper. Never could sleep more than that.

I don't seem to be a typical college student...I can't sleep much past 9, and I am absolutely beat by midnight.

Most college students have trouble graduating in four years.

Yeah, I need at least 8 hours of sleep to function properly. *is running on only 6 hours because she was up until 4am doing work that was due today*

Well Jesse, all you need to do is start going to bed at 1 and getting up at 10 instead. (for me this wasn't too tough, because that's how late my friends are usually awake)

Oh right, the rest of my day. I knew I was missing something.... Yesterday was my choir concert, which went really well. The only tough part was during one piece where our director almost started crying (she's retiring, this was her last concert, and the piece we were singing was sung at her high school graduation probably over 50 years ago). At the concert, I got an award. It was called the 100/100 award, which meant 100% attendance and 100% effort 100% of the time. :D Dad showed up at the concert just after we had all stood up, and right before singing our first piece. After the concert, we went out for an early dinner, and then came back to pack up all of my stuff. My room looks so empty now! Although I still have probably enough stuff to last me a good three weeks. It'll all fit in the van just fine though. After dad left, I had to finish that psych film paper, the working on which was interspersed with friends hanging out for a little while (and since I had the webcam on, Phil was able to hear some of the insanity (he got to see how one conversation went from the existence of God to fireflies to Henry VIII in a matter of about 5 minutes).

Yeah for a great day! Congratulations on the award! You must have been quite happy.

The concert was a success not only for your singing, but your father showing up not one second too late!

Phil must be thrilled with the webcam. That sure makes things nice.

Overall... an A+ day, I would say. :D

With the exception of the paper writing until 4am, it was a good day. And I am quite happy with the award. I generally try to put forth my best effort, so it's nice to see someone recognize that once in awhile. ^_^ Today after I posted my message here, I went and dropped off my paper at my professor's office, and then came back here and slept for another three hours. And now, I get to enjoy a day free from work! ^_^

Yesterday was fun times. I got some studying done (today I'll be locked in my room getting all of it done, plus placking). And I was talking to Phil throughout the vast majority of the day, and my friends were in and out of the room all day. Marius had drawn some pictures to show Derek, and when he realized I was talking to Phil, he wanted to show Phil the pictures, so I turned on the webcam to show him, which was fun times, and Phil got to hear more insane conversations with my friends, and it was just overall fun times. :D

I think you have been talking to Phil too much. There is a little bit of him coming through in your writing.

This is a great way to end the semester and start the summer!!!

After you study, please go to Warm Wishes and look at the important topic.

Thanks!

I'm home now! ^_^ My room is a disaster area, but I'm working on it. I think I did really well on my exam today, and I made excellent time getting home, even though I hit traffic. Grandma's home, and she seems to be doing pretty well, but she seems a bit dazed to me. Mom says she tends to mix things up like where she is and who she's with, but overall things are okay. I'm really looking forward to Tuesday, which is when I'm going to go visit Phil at his college (they don't get out until next Friday). ^_^

It is going to be hard to see your Grandmother know be as mentally sharp as she used to be.

With Grandma, I'm going to treat it as a comedy. There's nothing we can really do aside from keep an eye on her and try to keep her as happy as possible. And when things go wrong, we can either cry about it, or laugh about it. I figure laughing is a better option.

As for Phil pictures, I have a few from when I visited over spring break, but they're almost entirely all ballroom pictures (dancers are really hard to photograph!). I'll see what I can come up with....^_^

I tend to think laughing is the better option in most cases.

However, some things are no joke, and it really gets to me when some people tend to laugh at big problems. >.<

Not saying you are wrong, I completely agree with you. Just, my scoutmaster treats everything wrong with our troop like a big joke.

I really am starting to not be able to stand the guy.

Oh, I agree. I basically figure that if the stuff that's going on would be funny to someone who's watching but not experiencing it, I laugh at it. But there are some things that just aren't funny, and I'm fully aware of the difference.

Good. xD

Sometimes my one friend calls me a horrible person for laughing at things I probably shouldn't. xD

But she's just messing around.

Her and I get along really well.

We have the same birthday, and we can be very similar in some ways, yet entirely different in others. x3

lol friends tend to be like that.

Today was mostly spent helping Dad move things around outside, and get stuff from Lowes to make the shower here better. And earlier today I got some homework done. That's pretty much it. Tomorrow I might go to church. Not sure though. If I go, it'll be by myself, because mom has to take grandma to mass at the local Catholic church (mom promised Grandma that she'd take her to mass every Sunday if grandma came to live with us). At least next week my sister can come with me, and I'm going to see about maybe getting Phil to come along too. That would be awesome. ^_^

Homework = no fun. I went to church this morning, which was kinda fun. When I got back, I helped dad assemble a better bed in grandma's room, and then ate lunch. And now I'm doing homework. I just have to fix my unit plan, lesson plan, and teaching philosophy, which is easy, but I don't feel like doing work.

Haha yeah. Lowes usually works out better for finding the stuff we need for some reason. Dunno why.

I got my stuff for education fixed and emailed to my professor, but apparently we're supposed to post it online, and I'm not entirely sure where. So I'm waiting for a response before I do anything else. Tomorrow night after Jenny's fire department thing, I'm taking her back up to her college, and then I get to see Phil! ^_^

Hi! I have been busy packing up things in my room, which I'm sure you can relate to. I'm pretty much done now though. ^_^ Have you started that yet (not sure if your messy room would be the "before" or "during" phase in packing up :P )

I'm home already, so I'm in the unpacking phase, and my bedroom is an outright disaster area. :P When I was packing though, the room was much more of a mess during packing.

It is SO nice to actually be with him, I can't even put it into words. At least not without using pretty much every cliche in the book. And tomorrow we have the entire day together. I'm so excited! ^_^

I hassss kwestchin.

What was/is your major in college?

I have two majors, actually. Elementary Education and Psychology, and I'm planning on declaring a minor in teaching Middle School Physical Science. (I started out as Secondary Education and Physics, but then switched Physics to Biology, and then switched Biology to Psychology, and had to switch Secondary Education to Elementary because of some problem with getting certified.)

So, last night I went to sleep early (sometime between about 10:30 and 11:00) figuring I'd be more likely to get up at a more reasonable hour. I got up at 1:30. >_<

This afternoon ??????????????

:o:blink::o:blink::o

Yeah. I was hoping to get up at like 10 or 11am. That didn't happen. >_< I guess I was more tired than I thought.

*does a victory dance with her current transcript* Who got awesome grades this semester? I got awesome grades this semester. ^_^ I now have 88 credits and a 3.664 GPA. Lowest grade was an A- as you can see below. (If you're wondering, P means Pass. Some classes don't get letter grades because they're pass/fail classes.)

What's the matter with that Honours Seminar instructor... A-. Doesn't he/she know it should have been an A?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

You did great!

Thanks! ^_^ Haha A- in that class is good enough for me. It was a 300-level class. I didn't even read the novel we were supposed to read. (To be fair, it was their own fault. It was the last class before spring break, and just as we were dismissed, one of them went, "Oh, by the way, read that novel by the time you come back." No warning whatsoever. And as you might recall, my spring break was totally packed. I couldn't have read the book in that time if I wanted to. And as it turned out, the book wasn't useful to anything we had to turn in anyways.)

Today was a busy day. Mom woke me up a bit early so I could go with her and grandma to Denny's for lunch, which was pretty good. ^_^ After that we did some grocery shopping. When I got home, I played the sims 2 for awhile, then ate dinner, then more sims, then helped dad put something together, and then was trying to finish up what I was doing with the sims when I had to drive my sister to walgreens to get an inhaler and some medication because her allergies and the sheer amount of cat fur and dust in the house made her start coughing uncontrollably. >_< So yeah, today was busy. Tomorrow's going to be equally crazy. Tomorrow I have church, then I have to go out and pick up a corsage thing for mom for grandma for mother's day, as well as something for Phil's sister because she graduates college tomorrow. We have reservations for a mother's day lunch thing at 2:30. When I get back, I'm going to Phil's sister's graduation party. Oh, and as of tomorrow Phil and I will have been going out for one month. ^_^

:P October, wow. That's both a long time and not such a long time at the same time lol.

Oh yeah, yesterday. After going out for food with my family, I went over to Phil's house for his sister's graduation party (she just graduated from college), and it was a lot of fun. Phil's family is a lot like my mom's side of the family, only two or three times the size. So they were all really nice and really easy to get along with, and it wasn't awkward at all, which is something I was kinda worried about.

Meeting Phil's family... PHEW! Glad that is behind you and it was in such a pleasant setting. That must have made things a whole lot easier.

October... passes quickly unless you are over in Iraq. The summer will be brutal for them and hopefully he returns home to his family safe and sound.

lol Phil's sister, not mine. My sister is a year younger than me. :P And I'm glad meeting Phil's family went well too. I know sometimes that sort of thing can be horridly awkward, but it wasn't at all, and I was quite thankful for that. It'll be interesting to see how Phil reacts if he gets to meet my extended family.

And yeah, I can imagine that summer in Iraq wouldn't be fun times. >_<

Today I actually got the rest of my unpacking done, and got most of the stuff in my room (the stuff that belongs to me anyways) organized to a reasonable degree. And I went grocery shopping, because mom wanted some stuff from the store. I still have tons of laundry that has to get done though, so I'll probably start that soon. Tomorrow Phil is probably going to come over, which should be tons of fun. It's supposed to be nice out tomorrow too. ^_^

lol indeed. ^_^ I just hope his grandparents let him come over. He failed multivariable calculus, and got D's and a C in some of his other classes, although it's mostly not his fault. Apparently he had some really awful teachers *thinks back to her own problems with her calculus and cell bio classes* and when you have awful teachers, you can try as hard as you want, and still not pass the class. And for at least one class, the textbook was bad too, so he couldn't even teach himself from the book. Plus the class average for most of those classes was at least close to failing anyways. But his grandparents just don't realize that he tries as hard as he can, and that he's upset about his grades too. Like I get it, and my parents get it, but his grandparents don't. So I'm hoping he manages to come over today if for no other reason than the fact that I'd be able to give him a hug, because I know he needs it.

Give him two hugs. I do agree that teachers and textbooks can make all the difference in your being successful or struggling. Hopefully his grandparents will catch on, although I seriously doubt it. Some teachers are bad and then the way they grade their tests makes matters worse. If everyone in the class is struggling to make good grades, then something is drastically wrong.

So... give him two hugs, He certainly needs the support.

lol I probably hugged him at least 10 times. And he knows that he has my support, and the support of my family. At least he seemed in better spirits today than he did yesterday, but I can tell he's scared to see the full force of his grandparents' reaction. Hopefully they won't do anything too drastic.....

I will cross my paws. Let me know what happens.

Will do. He was going to talk to them yesterday after dinner, but he said they seemed tired, so he'll either tell them today or after Sunday (because on Sunday, the two of us plus Jenny, Tommy, Scott (Phil's roomie, who I know from middle school), and Olivia (Scott's girlfriend) are all going out for lunch at Tommy's restaurant and then to see the new Narnia movie, and Phil doesn't want to mess that plan up with the potential wrath of his grandparents. Although he really should tell them sooner rather than later.

Oh, and yesterday I changed the oil in my car (Dad told me what to do). And it's not that hard. I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's just a little bit messy. Then Jenny and I went out shopping (again) because we needed some stuff from the grocery store, and needed to buy a new broom (the one we had broke when we were sweeping off the trampoline, which was covered in assorted tree debris). Today was mostly spent doing nothing, aside from driving out to pick up our Chinese food order. Tomorrow I'm going up to camp because Saturday is a work day (mom's paying me $50 to do the work day for her). And then I come home Saturday afternoon/evening. I'm starting to get really tired of all this driving.

Hm....looks like the plans for Sunday are getting moved over a week, because Olivia has work. It works out well though, because I won't have to drive myself up and back to camp (I'll go with Dad and come home with him on Sunday instead), and Phil won't have to worry about his grandparents keeping him home this weekend because of his grades.

This works out better. He stays home this weekend because of his grades, then he is free to get together with you all the following weekend. :D

lol in theory. I don't know his grandparents that well, so hopefully they won't do something like ground him the whole summer. The only thing that kinda worries me is that I won't be online to talk to him after he tells them about his grades, because I know he's going to be upset after that. I can do aim with my cell phone, but that's really slow. And he has the number for the cabin phone, but the lines tend to be crackly, and I'm not sure how long distance works with his phone. (my cell phone doesn't get enough reception at camp or at home for talking, but it's usually good enough for texting)

You know, everyone struggling to pass a class doesn't necessarily reflect the teacher, it could reflect the students.

I mean, in my school, a large portion of the kids get C's and D's, and there is no one to blame but themselves. Their complete disregard for the importance of education leads them to apathy towards school. Or we just have way to many stupid kids in my area. >.<

That's pretty normal, but there are two differences. Actually three. 1) Teachers in grade school have to have an education degree, college professors don't. 2) The class average for some of Phil's classes was F, not C. C is a normal class average, a D or F average indicates a problem with the teaching. 3) In college more people care because you're paying an insane amount of money to take them, the class is more likely to be relevant to your future career, and you need to either pass it or take it again to graduate.

Yeah. Last night I figured out that I can do IM through my cell phone, but it's *really* slow compared to normal IMs. I just send Phil a rather long message through a networking website we're both on with some tips on talking to his grandparents. Because they don't understand, and they make assumptions about why Phil did poorly in his classes (which, to be fair, are typical assumptions one would make as to why someone did poorly in classes), and Phil gets *really* frustrated with the whole situation. And I've never seen him debate something with someone, so there's a good chance he just doesn't know the finer points of preventing discussions from turning into arguments. (I took debate class, my parents taught me well, and I'm a psych/education major, so this sort of thing is my specialty. I don't know if Phil's had a debate class, but I know his parents/step parents/grandparents don't/didn't work the same way my parents do, and he's a chem major. ) I also told him that I love him very much and that I'm praying for him. So, yeah, hopefully he'll be okay this weekend.

Haha  My mom always said I'd be a good lawyer. Law school sounds insanely boring though. And being a lawyer requires *way* too much research and paperwork. I think I'll stick with teaching.

Probably a good idea to stick with teaching. But you could always practice your skills helping Phil.

Haha true. I'm talking to Phil now, although his responses are a bit slow. It seems his grandparents aren't mad about the grades anymore, and he actually had a good weekend. *breathes a sigh of relief* ^_^

Make that two of us breathing a sigh of relief.

Glad to hear things have calmed down on Phil's end.

So, it looks like that thing we were going to do on Sunday is actually happening tomorrow. Today I went down to the local camping gear store and picked up a job application, and then went to the grocery store, partly to pick up some stuff mom wanted, but mostly to visit Phil, because I knew he was working today. He was happy to see me. ^_^ The rest of the day was spent getting annoyed at the internet for cutting out on me, and playing stepmania. Now I'm doing laundry. And tomorrow is our triple date chinese food and movie thing. But I already said that. The details are way more complicated than they should be (compliments of my sister), but the general idea is that Jenny, Tommy, Scott, Liv, Phil, and I are all going out to see the new Narnia movie, and to get Chinese food at Tommy's restaurant. Good thing I can drive the minivan....

Yesterday was fun times. ^_^ Phil biked over to my house to hang out for a little while, and Dad helped us plug the computer in to the TV, so we were able to play stepmania on the TV (I have DDR mats that have a USB plug). Then we went to go pick up Scott and Liv, and then to get Jenny and Tommy at Tommy's house. From there we went to the mall where the movie theater is (which was a challenge because Tommy was giving me directions from the far back seat, and was too quiet to hear. >_<). The movie we wanted to see wasn't for awhile, so we wandered around the mall, which was fun, and then went to see the movie. I think there were only like three people in the theater aside from ourselves. After the movie, we wandered around the mall some more, and then went back to Tommy's for Chinese food and to watch another movie (Tommy lives in an apartment upstairs from the Chinese food place where he works). And that was also fun times. Then, leaving Tommy at his house, we dropped off Scott and Liv, returned home to pick up Phil's bike and drop off Jenny, and then I brought Phil home and helped him get the bike out of the van and into a shed, and he told me to text him when I got home (normally I would IM him, but his grandparents for some odd reason have imposed an 11pm computer curfew, and it was already after 11pm). So when I got home I did that, and went to sleep. Today I need to go drop off a job application. Oh, and apparently Grandma tried to go home at some point recently. >_<

As for all the rest... backseat drivers and all. Sounds like you had a great day. :D
