I was wondering just a few seconds ago why there wasn't an Anime TAWPEEK here on the forums. Now why is that? I put myself up to the task of making one.

Animes/Mangas I love:

Case Closed/Detective Conan, Cardcaptor Sakura, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, .hack, Death Note, Chobits, One Piece, Hoshi No Kaabii (Kirby of The Stars), Tokyo Mew Mew, F-Zero GP Legend, Fruits Basket, Sailor Moon, The Dreaming, Zatch Bell, Galaxy Angel, The Gentlemen's Alliance, Gundam, Astro Boy, Magical DoReMi, Anima, Dragon Ball (Not Dragon Ball Z), Those EarthBound mangas they had in Japan, and Old-School Pokemon. I'm sure I forgot some. Oh well.

Animes I hate: Naruto, Lucky Star, all Pokemon after the 1st season, Inuyasha, and Hentai.

that's it for now.

I'm just starting to get into anime, thanks to my friends. In all honesty, I'll watch pretty much anything you put in front of me. So far I've watched all of Love Hina, Love Hina Again, Ouran High School Host Club, and FLCL. I've gotten through part of Death Note, Bleach, and Fullmetal Alchemist. And I have an ever-growing list of animes I still need to watch.

I suppose I'll ask the question I inevitably do:

to what degree would you consider the Rankin/Bass films anime?

Like, the stop-motion Christmas movies? I wouldn't really consider them anime at all. A majority of them aren't even animated.

same guys, I was referring to the traditionally animated stuff. Like The Last Unicorn, and Thundercats. (yes, I know the latter is a series.. Still the same point.)

I don't think so. Anime is a certain style in my opinion.

...Rankin/Bass did those? o____o Wow, I had no idea.

I think that both Last Unicorn and Thundercats are pretty similar to anime, and definitely drew on it for inspiration, but I don't know if they would actually be considered anime. I tend to be pretty narrow-minded in my definition, though.

O: I've always wanted to check that out. Tell us if it's any good, alright?

Alright, I've got a question, and be honest. How many people here were first exposed to anime through Sailor Moon?

My firsts were, in order: My Neighbor Totoro, Pokemon, and Sailor Moon. Dragon Ball was also an early one but not a first for me.

To me, about anything that involves more hormones than necessary, eastern manga animation, and a storyline/setting just begging to be Mary-Sue'd, qualifies as Anime.

Thus, I dont care for any of them.

See, my definition is a lot more strict. I generally don't call anything that didn't come out of Japan real anime, 'cause that's a big part of the genre for me. O:

I've watched a bit of anime, kind of lost track. Let's see what I can remember.

The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya

FLCL

Minami-ke

Minami-ke Okawari

The Tower Of Druaga ~The Aegis Of URUK~ (currently in progress)

CLANNAD TV

CLANNAD ~After Story~ (okay, I admit, it's not out yet, even in Japan, but I'm going to watch it)

Kanokon (currently in progress)

Aria The Animation

Detective Conan (still going ;A; they're crazy!)

Ouran High School Host Club (SHUT. UP. I regret watching it.)

Ghost In The Shell

Lucky Star (no, it didn't make any sense to me either)

One Piece

Naruto (ugh. NEVER AGAIN.)

Death Note (I admit, I only watched it a bit before I got bored. I should probably start watching it again.)

CODE GEASS (I watched, like, half an episode. Still counts. =P)

Gakuen Heaven (I also regret watching this. The ending was terrible.)

Inuyasha (Not my thing, I only watched a few eps and got bored with it.)

Bleach (This also got boring after a short while. Why am I almost never into the super-popular animes? It's weird.)

Rozen Maiden

Rozen Maiden Traumend

Rozen Maiden Ouverture

Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch (Also regret this.)

Princess Tutu (actually, that one was pretty good.)

I My Me! Strawberry Egg

And that's all for now, because I have to go to my next lesson. C:

In anime's defense, basically everything can be easily Sue'd.

I wouldnt say everything, unless someone has some real skill at being stupid.

if everything can be made into pr0nz, then everything can be Mary sue'd.

Also, Case Closed/Detective Conan = win

Deh. I watched more Sailor Moon than some of the ones I mentioned there, but that was so horrible, it doesn't deserve to be mentioned. Like, worse than Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. :'C

Conan is the best popular anime. Ever. C:

Also, I recently found out, GARNET CROW (a Japanese band or singer, not sure which. Either way, I likes 'em. n_n) actually did the OP songs for a couple of the seasons. o:

Guh, I can't say OP anymore without thinking of Operator Please...

I like Sailor Moon, but it's kinda boring and repetitive...i still like it but prefer Tokyo Mew Mew or Cardcaptor Sakura, or Case Closed because that's my favorite.

I prefer the Sailor Moon manga to the anime because it doesn't have the same monster-of-the-day filler stuff the show had. It moves much faster.

Really? That was one of the things that annoyed me about the anime. I'll try reading the Manga.

Technically I read that graphic novels, which are basically the manga flipped over so it's read in western style, but the story is the same.

...Wow.

I just got around to watching Kanon.

And just... wow.

Seriously, whether it's dubbed or subbed or whatever, watch Kanon.

There are two versions, one from 2002 and one from 2006. Watch 2006, it explains the story better than 2002.

Anyway. Go do it.

K, I go b emoz noa.

I started watching the 2006 Kanon... it was definitely easier to understand than the 2002 version. The 2002 version was just trippy and weird. xD But that was a while ago, I haven't watched all of the "newer" Kanon episodes. Uuugguuuu~! XD

anyway, I've been reading Chobits, GodChild, Azumanga Daioh, and Sergeant Frog a lot lately, and they are all very good.

I finished watching Tokyo Mew Mew a few weeks ago. It was good, but had it's flaws. I'm watching Cardcaptor Sakura now.

They removed all the episodes of Detective Conan off YouTube, which makes me sad.
