The other day I found a box adressed to me and inside was Rocket Man (number Ones). Like I didn't even order it.

on the elton john wesbsite message board, someone recommended a video (because u can put urls there!) its not on youtube, its ifilm. its to the song "original sin" remix. i looooooved it! it focuses around a girl (played by mandy moore i think) who is in love with elton john (like i am) and has elton john stuff all over her room (like i do) and i just love watching it. i think if you go on ifilm and search for elton john original sin you'll find it. let me try..,.............ok yes it works, it's the first result. watch it!! i could watch it all day if i had the chance

i didn't put any urls, so dont edit this, horatio! ~thanks~

I got two new(used) elton john cds.....Ice on Fire(1985) and The Complete Thom Bell Sessions(1989)

i like them both....

there's a song on ice on fire called "too young" and i think it describes me pretty well. (the "you" being me, the "me" being elton)

Too Young

Music by Elton John

Lyrics by Bernie Taupin

Available on the album Ice On Fire

Your mother's eyes look straight through me

Whenever we meet

Your father swears it'll never be

As long as he breaths

And how many times have they told you

That you're too young

How, how I've ached to hold you

But you're too young

If we don't buy what's right or wrong

Then we are sinners

We were never two to tag along

But we were always winners

And how many people, have told you

That you're too young

And how many jealous hands would love to hold you

`Cause you're too young

Well you're too young to love me

And I'm too old for you

At least that's what they tell us

It's in their book of rules

That you're too young, too young baby you're too young

We could try it for a while

But they'd get us in the long run

They say that you're too young, baby you're too young

alright, so maybe more fantasy than reality, but i still like it.

It is okay that you are getting lonely, because today you almost got me killed. (Well, a bit of an exaggeration.) Anyway, I was taking a nice, relaxing morning ride and just riding along looking around when I see this billboard of Elton John and some radio announcer. Well, I almost got into an accident because this took me by surprise and you popped into my head. LOL I had to stare at it for a bit and the guy behind me was quite miffed that I would slow when he thought I should be racing to the next traffic light.

Anyway, you, and a billboard-sized Elton, were in my thoughts this morning. :D I would have attached a picture, but my camera is in Memphis and I am in Florida.

Google Cocoa, FL 32922 to Germantown, TN 38138.

If it asks you for which Germantown in TN, pick the one in Shelby County. Using the zip code in the first query will give you the exact town.

OMG! :o i am going to have this on my conscience now. im so sorry....i hope you're OK! :(

and what is ur camera doing in memphis?

thanks for telling me! :D

~Liz

I went up there for two weeks and returned to Florida a few days ago. I work in Memphis and live in Florida. :D

that's a bit of a commute..let me go google map it!....at least 300 miles to the FL border, if i am estimating right!

Google Cocoa, FL 32922 to Germantown, TN 38138.

If it asks you for which Germantown in TN, pick the one in Shelby County. Using the zip code in the first query will give you the exact town.

858 mi – about 13 hours 25 mins

wow! surely you don't drive that every day! :P

(Cocoa, Fl - sounds delicious!)

Hot Cocoa, with whipped cream. Yum!!!

I love that pic!!!

The glasses are stellar!

haha thank u! reminds me of a kid in my spanish class, we do prayer intentions at the beginning of class, and for the first few days or so he was like "i hope we have a stellar year!" until our spanish teacher got mad at him for saying the same thing every day and banned him from petitions. and then forgot she had done that the next day....lol...i had the same spanish teacher last year (small-ish school) and she lets me get away with anything....like last year, my seat was right in front of her, and i'd be reading one of my fiction books that has nothing to do with spanish, and she didn't care. cuz she spends like half the class going through the previous night's homework which i understood.....anyway this year i'm in the back corner so i was like doing my math homework in class....

and yet i still keep my grades up! (90+ average across the board) (no i am NOT bragging.)

What a great student you are!!!!! I wish I could have a 90+ average and be doing my math homework. If I tried that, I would have F's in both subjects.

haha we dont do much in spanish class. and i get bored in math class. we were going over homework today in math class cuz people had questions...and i didnt, so i was drawing on my notebook. and there was this hard-ish question in our homework that only 2 people got right and i was one of them. im really not trying to brag, i just happen to do well at school. my honors math class is moving too slow for me! by the time we finish going through the homework most days we have like 10 mintues to actually learn anything.

let me see

english-pretty easy, nice teacher

global-boring and i dont learn much in class, so i learn the material when i study for a quiz/test.

math-see above

spanish-see above

religion-ok i guess kinda boring.

chem-very fun i love my teacher she's so funny! and we're actually learning stuff. prob. my favorite class! possibly due to the fact that it's the only class without assigned seats so i can sit near my friends.

so that's my schedule! i dont hate school though.

How come the newest pictures in my siggy topic look different from the others? And how am I supposed to put one in my real siggy, if I so desire?

Thanks,

In your signature you can put them in using a link. But for the posts, you cannot use a post and the reason they look different is because, I place them on my desktop and add them as an attachment.

  • 4 weeks later...

It was magnificent. It was fantastic. It was amazing. It was breathtaking. It was life-changing. It was, in a word, Elton.

Manchester, NH, March 6, 2008. My very first Elton John concert. Prior to the concert, my parents and I met up with a few friends from the eltonjohn.com forum at a nearby restaurant. The time approached. We walked into the Verizon Wireless Arena and took our seats. Then, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight appeared on the piano. The air was filled with anticipation. And then - he appeared. The crowd let out a tremendous cheer. He sat down, and launched first into the classic Your Song. After it was over, he mentioned that it came from the Elton John album, and that he would do a few more songs from the album. The 60-year-old Elton then played Sixty Years On, followed by The Greatest Discovery, I Need You To Turn To, and Border Song. After those songs from the past, he played the more recent Ballad of the Boy in the Red Shoes. After that was Daniel, followed by a very fun Honky Cat. Then it was time for the extended version of Rocket Man, which the crowd loved. Tiny Dancer was next, followed by Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters, both of which he mentioned were included in the movie "Almost Famous." After that was Nikita, with background images of roses. Then he started playing an inventive introduction - but to which song? It turned out to be Philadelphia Freedom. He introduced the next song by explaining that it was his first solo Number One single in England - Sacrifice. A captivating Ticking followed. He then mentioned how he loved watching the movies of a certain cowboy when he was a boy - and then played Roy Rogers. An enchanting Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word was next. Then the fans in the crowd - including me - waved our cell phones back and forth to Candle In The Wind. After that was an enjoyable rendition of I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues. Levon came after that, with accompanying balloon graphics on the screen behind him. He then introduced Carla/Etude as coming from "an obscure album called 'The Fox.' " The instrumental was combined with the majestic Tonight. After that was Blue Eyes, and I knew the time was approaching to rush the stage. As Bennie and the Jets began, I ran toward the stage. clutching the T-shirt I had designed. I danced in front of the stage to a rocking Bennie, in which he included portions of "In The Mood." An enjoyable I'm Still Standing was next, and when it was over, he walked offstage. But I knew he would be back soon. He appeared again, and started to sign things. I unfortunately did not get my shirt signed, but just to see him that close to me was more than enough. When he had finished signing, he played Crocodile Rock, and by that point I was right in front of his piano, with my hands resting on the stage, and remained there during the final song, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.

It was truly an amazing night, one that I will never, ever forget.

It was magnificent. It was fantastic. It was amazing. It was breathtaking. It was life-changing. It was, in a word, Elton.

Manchester, NH, March 6, 2008. My very first Elton John concert. Prior to the concert, my parents and I met up with a few friends from the elton forum at a nearby restaurant.

Radio City is closer....NYC..April 9...too bad the tickets are so expensive!!

its a benefit for hillary clinton, and tickets range from $125 to $2300. and the cheapest one on ticketmaster i can find at the moment is $1000. so i probably won't be going. not to mention its a school night.

  • 2 weeks later...

Following the instructions of our faithful GPS, my mom and I made our way from our friend's house in Southern Jersey up to Atlantic City. We parked, and then walked around a little bit, since we had time before the concert began. Every so often, I would see someone wearing an Elton John shirt, and I would smile to myself. Some time after 7:00, we made our way to Boardwalk Hall. We showed our tickets, then made our way up to section 225. It was high up, but at least we would be facing Elton. I had brought my Old76 (I'll explain later if you remind me) print, "Look Ma No Hands," which had been given to me at the Manchester, NH, in March, in hopes of getting it signed. My mom said the odds weren't great, but I was determined, after nearly acquiring an autograph at the previous concert. As it got closer to 8:00, the seats filled up slowly. The anticipation was building. Sitting on the side, we had a view of the area directly behind the stage. It was dark, but when someone with blond hair appeared, I whispered to my mom, "I think that's Davey Johnstone," [Note: Elton's guitarist.] and it was. After a few more minutes of waiting, the band came out and launched into Funeral For A Friend. Then - the greatest moment of all - Elton himself appeared, to overwhelming cheers from the audience. We heard his voice for the first time as the song segued into Love Lies Bleeding. After it was over, Elton got up onto his piano while the first bars of The B. is Back played. And then - to the crowd's delight - he did a handstand, then began to sing and play. He introduced the next few songs by saying that they all came from the album Madman Across the Water. The title track was first, followed by a charming Tiny Dancer and Levon. He told the crowd that the next song came from the album Made In England, and consequently played Believe. Following that, he began playing a melody on his piano, which kept most of the crowd guessing which song he would play. Eventually, we realised he was playing Take Me To The Pilot. When that song was over, he played an enjoyable version of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Daniel was next, followed by a nearly 13-minute-long version of Rocket Man. Once the song had finally ended, the band began Honky Cat, which included Davey playing a banjo. Elton intoduced the next song by saying that he didn't play it too often in America, but that it had been his first solo No. 1 single in England - Sacrifice. After the next song, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, he introduced the members of the band. I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues was next, followed by Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word. When Candle In The Wind started, I noticed people heading toward the stage - it was finally time! I grabbed my print and camera, and ran down the stairs as quickly as I could. I ended up in an aisle on the right side, wondering why no one else was going forward. Then I saw - security was making sure no one outside of the first three rows went by the stage. Was this as far as I was going to get? At some point, the guards told us we couldn't even stand in the aisle, so I slid into the nearest seat, which was about the fifth row. As the next few songs played - Bennie and the Jets, Sad Songs Say So Much, Philadelphia Freedom, I'm Still Standing, and Crocodile Rock, I decided that I would make the best of where I was, even though I wasn't right up by the stage. I danced to the music right up until Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting. After that, Elton got his marker and made his way toward the fans. I knew that it was now or never. I walked up to the security guard with a look of desperate hope on my face - and to my utter happiness, he let me through. I squeezed through the throng of people and held up my paper as high as I could. He came closer - and then suddenly - he was holding it. He looked at it for a few seconds, then signed it and handed it back to me. I could barely breathe - had this really happened to me? I snapped a few pictures while he was still close, then looked down and admired the print again. He had actually touched it and signed it! When he was done signing, he and the band began to play the rocking Pinball Wizard. After the song was over, he spoke a little bit about how he loved coming here, and that he would be playing his 50th state - Vermont - in two days. He then dedicated the last song to all of us - Your Song, of course. When it was over, I watched him walk away, still in awe of everything that had happened. There was one thing I had to do before I went to look for my mom - I walked over to the security guard who had let me through, and thanked him. As the crowd filed out, I tried to make my way back to my mom, who had stayed in her seat. When I was close enough to catch her attention, I held up the print and gave her a big thumbs up - I had done it! When I finally reached her, we embraced, and I excitedly showed her the autograph. She mentioned that this was probably the happiest night of my life, and she was right.

Okay, I have an Elton John related question, and if anybody can answer it, I figured it would be you XD

The radio station I listened to a few years ago used to play The Wasteland and it was a duet him him and some woman. Do you know who was singing with him? I've done a little looking and couldn't find her name.

I know the song The Wasteland, but I wan't aware that it was a duet. Maybe you're mixing it up with another song.

The Wasteland is from "Songs From The West Coast" which came out in '01. I can post a picture later.

Huh, it was a long time ago, I guess I could be mixing songs up. Actually, that sounds fairly likely because I can't find any evidence of a duet recording online. Alright, thanks anyway. XD Sorry for my horrible memory.

Dog Lover, I gotta say something.

In the John Lennon picture in your siggy.

I love the purple one. XD

Yeah, it's cooool. I like the yellow and teal.

~Liz

I just love his expression in the purple one. XD

Speaking of funny Lennon expressions, I was looking through the booklet of my Lennon Legends CD, and there's one where he's talking or something and got his finger pointed to his head like he's thinking, an there's another where he's looking at some money in his hand. I like them both. XD

Street Fighter. Video Game. Very popular among hardcore gamenerds. M. Bison. Character. Name is parody of Mike Tyson. That picture is from the Street Fighter cartoon. Ask anyone about it and they will mention the scene where M. Bison says "YES! YES!", ask them if they remember anything else from the cartoon and you'll be there for a while...

You don't have to be terribly hXc to know about Street Fighter O: It's fairly popular around my school and we don't have too many uber-nerds.

It was in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on 18 October, 2008. My third Elton John concert. I had been counting down the hours and minutes in the days leading up to it, and now it was finally time. My mom and I walked into the Wachovia arena as I clutched my Blue Moves album, in hopes of getting it signed that night. We took our seats - fifteenth row floor - and waited for the concert to begin. Even though I had seen Elton twice before, my excitement remained as overwhelming as always. A few minutes after eight, the lights went down, and the strains of Funeral For A Friend could be heard. And then, there he was. Elton. I felt a familiar surge of happiness at the sight of him. He sat down at his piano and began playing. "Funeral" segued, as it always did, into Love Lies Bleeding. Once the song had ended, and the crowd had cheered, he got up onto his piano, and with a smile I knew what was coming next. Sure enough, the band launched into The ***** Is Back and Elton did an admirable handstand off his Yamaha. Three songs from "Madman Across The Water" followed: the title track, Tiny Dancer, and Levon. All were immensely enjoyable, as was Believe. Elton then began a long intro. Following the setlist from my previous concert (Atlantic City) I correctly assumed that it would be Take Me To The Pilot. It was marvelous to sit back and simply enjoy listening to what Elton does best. After Pilot was a lovely rendition of the classic Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which preceded Daniel. Rocket Man was next, and my my watch, it clocked in at over twelve minutes. Honky Cat was one of the many songs that night that I stood up and danced to - thankfully I was seated on the aisle, so as to not block anyone's view! The tempo slowed down a bit with Sacrifice and Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. Then suddenly, a surprise! Elton announced that the next song would be All The Girls Love Alice - a new addition compared to my last concert! I danced excitedly to that song too, especially enojying the line - "What do you expect from a chick who's just sixteen?" - my own age. After I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues and Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, I could feel the anticipation in the air. The stage rush would soon be upon us. I grabbed my album and my camera, and got ready to run. However, the rush wasn't during Candle In The Wind as it had been last time, but rather during Bennie and the Jets. At that first familiar chord, I was up and running. Security was stopping people at row three. I looked towards the seats on my right and judged that I could probably climb over the folding chairs and make it to the stage. Timing it right so that the guards didn't become suspicious, I clambered through the rows, and achieved my goal. However, there were a few lines of people in front of the stage, and I couldn't get as close as I wanted to. I knew I still had a few songs before the signing, so I took a few pictures and grooved to Sad Songs Say So Much, Philadelphia Freedom, I'm Still Standing, Crocodile Rock, and, of course, Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting. After that, Elton went backstage to get his marker, and I knew that now was the time. I squeezed my was as close to the stage as I could, and waited. He started on the other side of the stage, so I had to stay in an uncomfortable position for what seemed like too long, but I would have put up with anything for Elton. He came closer, and I stretched out my arm as far as it would go. He kept moving, and I was afraid he would pass me, but at last he reached out, signed the album, and returned it to me. "Thank you!" I shouted. "I love you!" I stepped back for a moment to look at the signature, and for a second, I panicked. Had he signed it? I had just seen him do it! But then, my eyes found the indistinct but still visible autograph on the lower half of the cover, and my heart started again. The last two songs - Pinball Wizard and Your Song passed in a blur, and then another wonderful, awesome, breathtaking concert was over.

You are the greatest!!! The reviews are superb and the pictures are fantastic!!! You have getting down to the stage and getting something signed, down to a science. You are such a master at manipulating everyone to move out of your way. I'm thrilled to hear your album was signed.

Now... as for that handstand off the Yamaha... all I can say is WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Incredible.

Glad you had a great time.

Thank you for the pictures.

BTW... how was your visit to Lehigh?

Thanks! :D Regarding the manipulation of people to move...the guy I was squeezing past on my left got kind of angry...he went to his friend "what the ****! did you see that girl go in front of me?" or something algng those lines. But I survived!

Yes, he's still amazing with those handstands. He did one in the video I emailed to you form the AC concert, right?

You're welcome for the pictures!

Lehigh was good. Let's see...I've been on tours of Northwestern, Boston College, MIT, Northeastern, Rensslaer, and Lehigh so far.... I visited Penn State when we were driving back form Chicago & Northwestern summer of last year, but I didn't go on an officical tour. I've also been to a few colleges in my area without going on official tours. So far MIT has been my favorite; I liked Northwestern too. (That's where my dad went) But my parents think it's kind of far away. I still will go to a bunch more (I'm a junior now)

Anyway, this is an Elton topic! :P So I'll end this by mentioning that I <3 Elton. Not that anyone didn't know that.
