No, I need review time with my teachers.

I have a lot of questions.

You mean, you school doesn't push back the days by 1 when you get a day off? How can they afford to do that? Don't they have a quota of school days to meet? Anyway that's not fair for students counting on the review time in class.

We had two extra snow days...

And I... Well. I walked away after I typed And I, and I don't remember what I "And I"-ed.

Oh poo. School was cancelled today due to the storms and lack of power.

I have finals Friday, and I have so much to do, so I am actually upset that school is cancelled.

:-(

Yeah, we got out early mon & tues last week due to the heat. (I think it was Mon and Tues.....it seems so long ago!)

Now I just had my Chemistry regents. today...went well! Global is tomorrow. I did some practice Regents the other day for global, but now im having trouble accessing them, probably because every kid in new york is trying to do this at the smae time! At least I've done some already. Anyway...

good luck on your finals, and wish me luck on mine! :)

I thought the Chemistry regents was kind of hard.

Partially because I didn't study much, but a lot of the questions were worded weird and didn't make sense to me.

I really haven't been studying much, which is not a good thing, but I'm doing fairly well, I think. Hopefully, maybe.:unsure:

I think the Global will be eassssssssssssssy tomorrow. Good Luck!

Jesse - Regents are like New York State final exams. Issued by the state and what not...

That sounds annoying. Connecticut has those too, they give horribly long, awkwardly worded tests with a horrible balance of material covered. And two essays, one of which doesn't count. And a part where they "test" students with potential questions for future tests. <_< It's such a waste of time and just like any standardized test, it doesn't really measure the student's abilities. The strangest part is that our state does it for Sophomores, and it happens during a few weeks in march, it's really random like that. Though I'm not sure if that's better or worse than dealing with it at the end of the year.

Yeah...excuse my rant from my previous post. Good luck on your exams. :)

No, no, no... rants are good. I liked reading your rant, because I think you have a definite point.

Yeah, I think everyone hates those tests. We have to pass them to graduate now too. The nice thing about taking them sophomore year is you get three chances to pass it. Although the test was really easy for me. My friend and I kept finishing early, so one day I brought in a bunch of glitter gel and when we were finished, basically covered him in it while we waited for everyone else to finish.

Tell me if this makes any sense what so ever.

I really got an 82 on my chemistry regents, but they curve it down to a 78. WHY DO THEY CURVE DOWN!? THAT IS SO STUPID!

It was ridiculously hard as it was, and the majority of the non-honors chemistry classes failed.

STUPID, STUPID, STUPIDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

What happened to this place.

There is like, no activity anymore.

It's like an endangered animal... close to extinction, and if we don't act now, we won't be able to turn back.

Hah.

The Hampsters totally need to come out with another song, so we get more publicity and what not.

But that's jussssssst me.

You are sooooo right. Another problem is that there are summer holidays and people are away from their computers spending time camping, in the woods or other exotic place.

Does anyone know of a website or telephone number where I can speak to someone about like, family issues.

I know they aren't allowed, but maybe they could be passed through Horatio, on to me or something.

I am about to have a massive breakdown.

It has to deal with my grandma, my aunt, and myself.

I need someone to talk to about it, and I can't talk to my family about it, because all my aunts are on my aunts side, and my mom is on mine and my grandma's side. And I've talked to a few friends, but they really don't know what to say.

I dunnnnno, I'm so confused, so so so confused.

And I cannot deal with it anymore.

There are a few telephone numbers you can call. If you have trouble finding the information, you know how to contact me and I will give you some toll-free phone numbers.

You can always ask a teacher you trust or a guidance counselor, they should also have those phone numbers.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm about to blow up. Tell me if I am wrong.

May of this year my grandma bought a brand new 2008 Buick LaCrosse.

It was fine and everything for the first few weeks, then the check engine light came on when she started the car with the remote.

I live in City A and she lives in City B. City A is where the dealership is. There is a main highway to get there, and then there is a longer back route, that gets confusing. She does not drive on the main road due to an accident she had many years back which caused her to have panic attacks while driving on big roads like that.

Well, my aunt had to to take her to the dealership to get it serviced. A valve and some tubey thing were broken. She only had 200 miles on the car at the time. She hardly drives, I doubt it was her fault.

In June I started driving her car, and noticed a horrible noise when turning the wheel at low speeds. It was like a rubbing noise, almost as if something was rubbing against the tires.

Forget it. I drew a map.

So I had to take her to the dealership 'cuzzz no one else would.

I had to go from my house, down to my mom's work, where my grandma met us, up the the dealer, back down to her house, up the dealer again to get the car, back down to her house, then finally back home.

Thursday I had to go through the same thing again, and they still didn't fix one of the problems.

They had to replace the power steering something, because that was broken too.

And they didn't fix the driver side rear door, which is jammed and does not open.

They had to order a special part, so by Tuesday, I am going to have to do all that again!

And then the guy says to us, 'cause he knew we were upset, a free carwash, farther north than my house. A lot of good that will do her.

Does he think because she is an old woman and I am a young kid that we are too stupid to realize a new car should not do this?

She had a 1995 Buick LeSabre before this, and it ran fine, no problems what so ever. She buys a brand new car, which she pays cash for, and she has to go through all of these problems.

I feel like he is taking advantage of her. I'm telling him the next time we go, if we have another problem, that I want a new car for her. It's ridiculous. She only gets 17 or so mpg.. and with the rising gas prices, it is getting to be expensive to drive back and forth multiple times a day. She put more miles on it the past few days than she usually does in two+ weeks.

How can one determine if their car is a lemon?

Oh. And then Tuesdaaaaaay. We went up the second time, to get the car back, and we were waiting in the waiting room for over one hour! Finally I got up and asked the guy how much longer it would be, and he had the keys laying on his desk, and the car was parked outside. Were they just going to let us sit there? It's not like they were busy or anything. I saw Solitaire minimized on his screen!

This is ridiculous and I am getting soooo upset.

You have every right to be upset. And I would tell you just how ridiculous that is, but Horatio wouldn't be happy with the words I'd have to use in order to properly convey the message. Seriously, *what* did they do to that car? NO new car should EVER have that many problems with it. My suggestion is to find another dealership, and do some research. Ask people you know, and poke around online for opinions and experiences with different places. I wouldn't be surprised if other people had a problem with your car dealer. You might want to (if you can afford it) take your car to an independent mechanic to have it checked out. They'd have nothing to lose by fixing everything properly. And if your feeling particularly vengeful and you find other bad reviews of the dealership, call up the local news and let them in on it. I know eyewitness news in my state does some consumer watch thing where they investigate and publicize that sort of thing.

There were many words that I put in at first that I had to go back and edit afterwards to keep Horatio happy.

I know eyewitness news in my state does some consumer watch thing where they investigate and publicize that sort of thing.

There were many words that I put in at first that I had to go back and edit afterwards to keep Horatio happy.

Mmhmm.

Thank you for keeping me happy.

And yes, you have every right to be upset.

First, you need to get online and check out the Lemon Law for your state. Next, you need to document everything. Reconstruct a written account of each problem, each time you were at the dealer, what was accomplished and what problems were remaining to be repaired at a later date. Keep only the FACTS in this written account. No emotion, no curses, just plain facts.

Now, write a letter to the CEO of the car manufacturer, with a copy of your written account and copies of your receipts, bill of sale, etc., have your grandmother sign the letter. It is not your place to demand a new car but you can start the process by writing to the CEO and registering your letter with the post office or sending it FedEx where you have the letter signed for. You can find the CEO's information on the S.E.C.'s website. When you have contacted the car manufacturer, you can tell them that you are frustrated with the way the dealer is handling the problems, the fact that you believe the car to be a lemon and ask how does he intend to handle this problem. You will get a response from his office and probably that dealer or another dealer. Follow it up the way they have instructed. If this does not work, then your next step is to take copies of all your paperwork and follow the Lemon Law procedures. In addition to the above, I would start a log with mileage, dates, destinations and keep your gas receipts to back up your mileage.

Remember, if you lose your temper in the dealership, then they will not be as willing to help you. You have many alternatives to correcting the situation if you remain calm and do not use foul language. In addition, you can always make a telephone call to the owner of the dealership, but you must have your facts correct and not get angry and out fo control. You need to keep the upper hand in the situation.

Let me know how this works for you.

I got the Dare.

NOT what I expected.

I think I am going to take it back.

It feels cheap compared to my iPod Touch.

It's not as responsive as the iPod.

The camera is not what it was made out to be.

I miss having buttons.

I hate typing on a normal keypad, but on this phone it is much easier than the QWERTY keyboard.

I really wanted to get a Blackberry, but with Verizon, you HAVE to get a Blackberry plan, no if's, and's, or but's.

So now I'm stuck between the Voyager and the Glyde, neither of which I realllly want.

I have to have a QWERTY keyboard because of the extreme texting I do.

Any suggestions?

Anyone have an of the Verizon smartphones?

Nah, I'm with Sprint.

What kind of phone do you have?

I want to try out the Instict, just to see how it compares.

I think the phone wouldn't be so bad if it was a bit larger.

It's significantly smaller than my iPod, which is the size of the iPhone, right?

The iPhone is about the same size as the very first iPod.

Don't quote me as I could be wrong.

What kind of phone do you have?

Mine is a Razr, which isn't a good phone, by the way. It was just cheap with plan, so we went with it.

The iPhone is larger than an iPod.

I've seen good reviews for the Instinct, though.

Hmm. I don't know about the size of that one. I just know that my video is simply not quite as long.

My Razr won't stop glitching.

Heh, I don't fuss about it. It just happens from time to time. There are simply times when it gets annoying. XD

But that is what is annoying... you pay for a product and it should work with no glitches. We are getting accustomed to accepting poor quality and living with it as it is more effort to have the company held accountable.

Apparently many people have problems with this phone, but I never had any with mine.

Neither did I, but I had Bell South/Cingular/AT&T.

Well, it's not a constant problem, but, it happens from time to time. Like, when loading pictures. And, of course, I think this is common with all phones, but my friend and I have accidentall called each other at the same time and it glitched.

Yeah, black&white cool. I had the camera on a tripod at the time, so I was able to take pics without flash without them being blurry. :)

I had horrible luck with Motorolas.

After the SLVRs I got a Q9 which froze up constantly, so I took it back and decided, enough with Motorola.

So I got the enV, then the Dare, which is growing on me.

Hope the Dare works out for you. Probably just a matter of getting used to it.

This could potentially be the first time I stayed up for over 24hours! Woo.

I was just about to go to sleep, when my friends Amber and Karissa texted me and told me to come meet them.

I wasn't going to, and after an hour of discussing, I finally left my house at 2:30 AM, and didn't get there till 2:50.

We talked for a bit, 'cause I haven't seen Karissa in over a year. And then we were sitting at the school and a cop drove by and jumped the fence and some how ended up in the Tennis Court.

And then ... things happened between Amber and I, and Karissa sat there telling us stories...

And then I walked home, and now it's 5:30 AM. ...And I'm not tired what-so-ever.

So I am going to try stay up for more than 24 hours! Wooooop.

Only 3 more hours!

What to do. What to do.

I'm thinking about signing up for a three or five week session to study in Paris next summer.

You can select three courses, and I was thinking about a French language course, International Business, and Digital Photography.

Has anyone ever had a similar experience.

I'm going in April to Paris, Nice, Cannes, and Monacco, but I'm sure that won't be enough! ^_^

Horatio, I know you've been to Paris quite a few times, how do you like it?

Today is the closing on my grandmother's house, and she won't take me to see it!

Ohhhhhh, I'm so sorry. I know this must really upset you. Perhaps it is because she is upset about the closing and can't bring herself to drive by.

As for Paris... let me know if you go over. I have lots of Parisian friends and a couple of them own brasseries. They would be thrilled to meet you.

Probably not. When the school is responsible for you, they want to keep all the students close and most often give you lots to do.

I'm fairly certain they won't permit you to wander off by yourselves.

Is it bedtime yet?

I'm about to fall asleep on my computer,

but I'm only half way done with my AP Bio Lab.

I wish I was one of those people who did absolutely nothing.

I have gotten myself into toooooooooo much!

I'm in too many school clubs, too many leadership roles and conferences,

too many everythingggggggg.

I wish I could just drop them all, take normal classes,

and have a stress free life for once.

Fortunately, I did not win Vice President of my school. That would have just increased the stress factor.

:unsure::wacko::rolleyes::blink: :closedeyes:

There is good news even in losses.

Sorry you are doing so much. Hard work does pay off, it just takes a bit of time.

If you look at your schedule, next semester you might be able to drop an extra curricular activity if it is not something you really love or need.

I got run off the road by a tractor trailer today. What fun that was.

:o:o:o:o:o

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

Are you okay????????

How did that happen?

I was driving with my mother to pick up my grandmother.

I was going like, 40, I believe. Then all of a sudden, this truck just started turning into my lane.

I slammed on the brakes, but that wasn't enough so I had to drive off the road and into the grass.

The whole time my mom was screaming at me, for something that wasn't my mistake, which didn't make things any easier.

It wasn't a big ditch or anything... so that was good.

I was just shaken up.

Oh and BTW I was at your school today for math team. My school is finally back in...we weren't last year because of the strike, and while it's still going on, somehow we got to go. Call me a nerd but I love it.

Well you walk in the round part and go up the stairs, and the room has english stuff in it...and theatre stuff. so maybe an english teacher who does theatre? It was attached to a spanish room...there was a divider between them but they had it pulled back so it was like one big room.

This is going to be the busiest week of my life so far.

I have a French Project, AP Bio Lab, AP Bio Chapter Review, AP Bio Test on 3 chapters, and US History Project all due Friday.

Thursday night I will be at school till atleast 9 P.M. decorating the hallways for spirit week, which I'll be preparing for the next couple of days.

I'm involved in the Pep Rally set up and organization, I have Driver's Ed for 3 Hours this week, I need to get together good costumes for spirit week, prepare for the opening of the school store, French Trip mandatory meeting, help out for the homecoming dance, and finally... Drammmmmmmmmmmmmmmma Club every night.

Oh, and of course, regular homework.

Expect little from me in the week to come.

I don't know where my sudden art abilities came from, but I did this tonight for our hallway decorations.

Our theme was Dr Seuss.

Awesome! I'll have to randomly show up at your school to see that...LOL

Great job...

Latest rumors of our spring musical is Oklahoma. I think I saw that on Broadway with Rachel....a few years ago....

Good luck on your road test! I've had my permit since january but I'm not good enough to even think about the test yet...I don't drive as often as I should...

When I was in Pied Piper we performed there...

The week is over. Finally! :D

Although now I'm actually going to have to start going to play. 7-9 everyday. -_-

But my road test is November 6th, so hopefully I will be able to drive myself! :D

Good luck on your upcoming road test. What play is your Drama Club planning on performing?

You just made me tired.

Good luck in the next week... you will be missed.

What play are you doing? My school's doing Christmas Carol, but I didn't get in. <_<

Latest rumors of our spring musical is Oklahoma. I think I saw that on Broadway with Rachel....a few years ago....

Good luck on your road test! I've had my permit since january but I'm not good enough to even think about the test yet...I don't drive as often as I should...

A Mid Summer Night's Dream.

I believe we did Christmas Carol.... last year?

Awesome! Hopefully I'll be able to come see it. When is it? Who else is in it?

I didn't see Christmas Carol at your school, but I saw Footloose, and I've seen others over the years.

When I was in Pied Piper we performed there...

~Liz

Pretty much the usual..

Nathan, Katrina, Zac, Gabe, Kerry, etc.

Hmmm...I know Nathan. Trying to think if I know anyone else.

I had an awesome beginning half to my day, followed by a stress filled night at Drama.

I attended a journalism seminar at a certain college, that sits right on the Hudson. Our room was looking out over the river, and it was so beautiful and relaxing.

Then I came back to school, went to Spanish for 17 minutes and then went to the boy's soccer Sectional's Round Two game, which we won, of course.

Then I went home for 45 minutes, listened to music, went back to school for drama, where I attempted to paint a 20 foot lime green wall with white paint. It needs lyk3, 2932828 coats to cover.

Now I'm home.. just took a shower to get all the paint out of my hair ... and now I get to begin the most exciting part of the day! HOMEWORK! :D

That was one of my more laid-back days.

Luckily, Drama ended early tonight, and I get to start my homework now, rather than 293209 o'clock in the morning.

Kill me now! I don't know how I got to be so busy this year.

As of today, I am now running a food drive next week and really pushing to get RFL to come to my school.

I went to a workshop at a camp in upstate New York for at-risk teens, from 8 A.M. till 4 P.M.

I got home at 5:30 ish, and had Drama at 6, till 9:30.

So much for my day off.

I have soooooooooo much homework, I don't know how I'm going to do this.

I neeeed to skip tomorrow or something. It's ridic.

Are you an at-risk teen?

Anyway, your school killed us in math team (again!!) We got second place, though. If you didn't have 10 billion other things to do, I'd tell you to join. There's free pizza. My team is fun, we painted black stripes under our eyes like football players or something. It's the camraderie of a team without the pain of physical exertment. :P

And we got to listen to Elton John on the way home so I was frankly ecstatic. :D

No. The camp is for the at-risk-teens in the summer, and then holds leadership and volunteer workshops and conferences the rest of the year.
