Glowurm
War by me Fleeing, leaping, attacking, defending Shooting, diving, hoping, dying Living, sleeping, eating, throwing This is what you do in war. Learning, burning, hurting, dirtying Killing, wounding, missing, listening Hiding, finding, crying, flying This is what you do in war. All around you dead bodies lay Alive ones pouring over them Soon to join them This is what it’s like in war. Some will die from being shot Some will die from disease Some will live, but only few It is a part of war. Many are now cold and stiff You are a part of those dead You did your job, and paid for it This is the end of your war. People still fight, and die. People still keep pushing onwards For some, the end is here, and families fear That this is not the end of the war. --- This is a part of a poetry anthology thing we have to do. It feels so forced, writing it.
