Lizards and hamsters...?

I am moving to a different room, and my mother thought it would be alright to stick Jack next to my brother's lizard in the same room. (They're actually like. Four feet apart from their cages.)

 

I've been told that the lizard, or the hamster can get sick from this.

 

My parents aren't listening to me, and they say that it would be okay for them to be in the same room together. I would move the lizard myself, but I can't really lift a 90 pound glass tank by myself.

 

...Do you know anything about this, Horatio?
