Immediately get rid of the wood chips and wipe out the cage. Put shredded newspaper. Just rip the newspaper into long strips. Never use CEDAR or PINE as these will give your hamster respiratory problems. Aspen is okay. Newspaper is what the veterinarians use so that will be just fine for your hamster from now on.
