Horatio
Okay... I am having one of those days that hamsters have when your timing is totally off. First, I get on the bike and head out towards the beach for the launch. As I am facing the opposite direction, looking at who knows what, the launch starts. Well, now the camera takes a second or two to open up and turn on, then I don't have it set on movie, so by the time I finally got my act together, the rocket was in outer space. Today was the most spectacular day with a magnificent launch, and I totally missed taking a video of it. From there things went downhill fast. Now I have a headache and want to just get on my bike and ride, except I have to head to the airport in a couple of hours, so no chance to go out and play. Anyway, just thought I would look for some sympathy, but since no one ever looks here except Arkcher, I will complain to myself and hope someone shows up. What you need to do is up your shutter speed and add more light, but of course, these options are not available on digital cameras... unless you buy the really high end ones. Anyway, just thought I would look for some sympathy, but since no one ever looks here except Arkcher, I will complain to myself and hope someone shows up. *gives a big wolfy hug* hope you feel better soon. *returns the hug* Thanks for noticing. Tomorrow will be another day. Sorry about not responding hastily... I just wasn't on the boards. But I hope the headache goes away. I get migraines sometimes, and those are brutal. But taking pictures at a dance can be hard, cause people are constantly moving. =O No problem. I had to laugh at your last sentence, I certainly hope they are moving. After all... it is a dance. Well, look at this one of my friend Schuyler. (pronounced like Skyler) Funny picture, really. But a great example of the difficulties of dance photography. What you need to do is up your shutter speed and add more light, but of course, these options are not available on digital cameras... unless you buy the really high end ones. Other than that, I enjoyed that pic! Well, I would have put the camera on sports mode, but that makes the pics very dim. And I like the effects created. Like my ghost pic... Horatio
Horatio
Here is a fact that is getting in my way: it rains more on weekends than it does during the week. So, my question is, how does this happen?????? Don't you think if this is the case, that we ought to make the weekend on, let's say, Tuesday and Wednesday? Now when the weekend arrives, we can plan on consistently better weather than the previously designated days. How does this sound? This week is Biketoberfest and I want to ride my bike to Daytona. The only problem is that it has been raining almost the entire last two days and I really want to have a beautiful ride, not one in rain gear. So, I propose we move the weekend to the middle of the week. Of course, that does not take care of the immediate dilemma.

But it was totally okay because there were thousands others riding their bikes in the rain. So, I figure I will probably be sick as I got so wet, there was even water in my boots. Then I was inside an air conditioned building and started to get cold. Leaving there, I rode around some more and became even wetter than I was the first time and finally decided to go back to my cage. Now I am warm and toasty in my cage with lots of bedding all around me. Would I do it again? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One particular loon that comes to mind who dated a while back, was kind of disowned by his family for mental instability, which turned out to be a real... mental problem with is brain, but he and his brother would both get on typewriters and paint easels, and write or paint 'what the voices told them to', then publish these works and insist they were legitimate, original and good literature or artwork, while some of them were strings of random words or just random colors splashed on to a white frame. I dont recall exactly what became of them, but I'll look around through some files and see if I can find how that tale came out.

Horatio
*~*The Grand Illusion*~*The Final Cut*~* The Yellow Meat Grinder is still at the antique store. *~*The Psychedelic Luau*~*The Astronomy Domine*~* Is that some kind of secret code? A while back (February), I posted about a Yellow Meat Grinder at an antique store. I was hoping it was some spy code. Are you going to buy it? my mom wouldn't let me back in February. Were you using her money? If it is your money, your mother really should not say how you spend your money, unless it is something that is illegal. But if it were my thinking, a yellow meat grinder would eventually be worth money as they are not made anymore. So I would think it is a great investment. Horatio
Today I was supposed to be studying... but I got up at 05H00 and headed out the door before 06H00. It was really cold, with fog and some wind. I got to Orlando and was going to turn back, but after a cup of coffee, I had warmed up and decided to continue. Arriving at the on-road/off-road bike ride, I saw about 50 plus other bikes. We all headed out for an exciting day of fun riding. The dirt roads were really fun to ride on, but some places there was really deep sandy dirt. Lots of people went down, me included, and we hopped back on our bikes and continued on. Riding home was much warmer and I am glad I didn't get muddy. It will be great to do this again. There are some pictures on my camera. Those will come later. Horatio
Hey, I didn't know that you have got a motorcycle. Which model is it?I'm driving a green Honda CB500 for about 2 years. In August we had a meeting of the CB500 board. There were 21 CB500 from all parts of germany. That was fun. A German one of course... BMW F650GS. I put on 8500 miles since I bought it 22 May 2007. Yesterday was such a great day, so much fun. If we move to Paris, I will definitely bring my bike! Of course, I plan to ride it all over Europe and more specifically, ride it to your town. Honda's are great bikes. We have a Honda cycle place about one mile from me. I would like to get either a BMW off road bike, KTM or some sort of off-road bike a bit smaller than the 650... perhaps a 400. Without the nobby tires, my back wheel was sliding in the sandy dirt. I started learning the art of standing and powering out of the dirt, but I need to start this manoeuvre on a beginner level first. The good thing about going down is that the sandy dirt was about one foot thick so you just kind of mushed in. Please post a pic of your bike. I have a couple from the beginning of the ride I will post here.
Leguan
Hey, that's cool. I had my driving lessons on the F650GS. 8500 miles, that's much. I can't afford riding that much, but I liked to do so. I just posted a pic of my bike in the travel topic. Off road must be a lot of fun. I only made some rounds on a parcours at the Intermot in Cologne, the worlds biggest exposition of motorcycles. If there were tracks here, perhaps I also would have an offroad bike. However, in this region here are not many possibilities to ride offroad. You're moving to Paris? That's cool. You really need to see the Eifel (with one f ), the best region for riding I know in Germany. There's also a small article in the english wikipedia about it. Perhaps you know the famous Nordschleife of the Nürburgring which is called "The Green ####" by Jackie Stewart- that's in the Eifel. That's still on my to do list- riding the 28.265 km long course with my little Honda.

LOL I am not too familiar with places to ride in Europe, but I am educating myself. Riding in the USA is great because gasoline is so much less expensive than in Europe. The taxes are considerable less, making the gasoline about $3.00 US dollars per gallon. 1 gallon - 3.7854118 litres. My bike gets about 78 miles per gallon. Off-road my mileage was considerable worse, but well worth all the fun.

Here the gasoline never has been more expensive than now. 1 litre costs about 1,40€. This is approx 2$ at the moment. This means that one gallon would cost approx 7,6$. Well, that's really a big difference. Ok, now a little bit more calculation. Your bike gets 78 miles per gallon, that's ~125km with 3,8l. Means 100km with only a little more than 3l. Wow, that's a really low consumption. My bike needs 5l on 100km. However, I like to open the throttle on the autobahn as long as it is allowed. Unfortunately, a general speed limit (130km/h ~ 81mph) is debated at the moment...

Leguan
I better get over there soon before they put a speed limit on it. Ok, good news. With the current government there will be no general limit so that you can open the throttle on 40% of the Autobahn as much as you like. However, I'm sure the general speed limit will come, it's just a question of time. Germany is the only country in Europe which hasn't got a limit- anytime the EU will intervene... Well. I should be lucky- people in some other countries would be happy if they were allowed to do 130km/h... In Norway for example the maximum is 90km/h. Also the punishments are comparatively low in Germany. +10km/h here usually is not measured, they start with 11km/h and then it's 20 Euro. However, in Switzerland +5km/h costs already about 100 Euro...

Over here, speeding fines are variable depending on the state, city, etc. If you are speeding through a work zone, with workers present, the fines are usually doubled. School zones are other really high dollar fines. As well, they should be.

Horatio
Since it seems that I am always talking to myself, I will ramble a bit today. I want another motorcycle. This one needs to be an on/off road, but mostly a dirt bike, with nobby tires, that is street legal. That means, lights and blinkers that is registered. Life is too short not to enjoy yourself and I think riding on the trails is such fun. So... I am looking for another bike. A Yamaha XT225 or something like that. So, when I get good at riding the trails and can take some pictures, I will definitely post them. In the meantime, I plan on riding my bike from Florida to Memphis this weekend. Far western lower part of the state, next two the Mississippi River (across from Arkansas) and touching Mississippi to the south. Memphis city limits touch the Mississippi state line. Look under a map search and go from your city, state to Memphis, TN and you will see it.

Mushroom_king
I HERE HAW HAW Outstanding! Are you snowed in yet???? *~*The Grand Illusion*~*The Final Cut*~* No, all the snow stopped and then melted, but I did get my 100+ political/cause buttons today. While there were some I didn't really care for -cough-ProBush-cough- I'll keep them anyway because they're all vintage buttons and worth keeping. and I got a neat surprise upon finding an old Bush (Senior) sticker from the 80's and a JFK keychain. AND, the 100+ buttons were wrapped in 5,000,000+ popcorn styrofoam to make fake (if staticky) snow! *~*The Psychedelic Luau*~*The Astronomy Domine*~*
