  2. Dear Climber4145, Two questions please... .....1. Why do you think I am dumb? .....2. Why do you hate me? Thank you for your reply. Horatio 5 years ago. Rofl. That's cool this forum is still active. I just googled my name randomly and saw this. And yeah, I have no idea what I was thinking. Things can happen when your still in elementary school and get your hands onto a computer. Welcome back. And you still remembered your password!!! Hope you stop back in again.
  3. Mountain bikes are great in the snow, ice, mud, water puddles, etc.! Of course, I have gone down in the biggest of mud and come up and gotten back on and kept riding. Of course, this is not how you want to show up for work. My first snow and ice experience in a car was at my father's asphalt plant where there was lots and lots of room to do 360's and learn how to control a skid. Then it was more fun as there was nothing to hit but perhaps a sand or gravel pile. Wouldn't want to try that on the streets with lots of other drivers. The problem in Memphis is that 99.9999999 percent of these drivers are bad in good conditions. When they get some rain or snow, then their mentaliity is that faster is better. No thought process as to stopping, manoeuvring or any other possibility when it comes to the performance of their vehicle. Then you have those one or two other drivers, who are scared to operate a vehicle on a perfect day and cannot find the gas pedal on a bad day. These are the driver's who set up the obstacles for all the bad drivers. Tried taking my bike out of the garage on a day when the sloped driveway had iced over. I scared myself silly. Luckily I could traverse the grass until about two feet from the garage door and had enough traction to get it back inside and parked. Won't try that again. Lots of loose gravel is more appealing.
  4. Dear Hoops... Wherever you are, I hope you are having a marvelous birthday. We are thinking of you and hope that you stop in and see us. In the event you stop by, we will sing the traditional song. HAPPY HAMMIE BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY HAMMIE BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY HAMMIE BIRTHDAY DEAR HOOPS, HAPPY HAMMIE BIRTHDAY TO YOU. Hope your special day is the greatest ever! Horatio
  5. You have accomplished so much since you first came to the boards! We are so excited to hear your master's thesis is so close to being finished. When you are associated to an institution that has lots of money, it always makes things a bit easier. I'm sorry that the first time your work didn't happen, but you have identified the problems and can now do even better the second time around. Next time you will use FedEx for your shipping. Quite often we carry bull semen and the containers which contains the material look like a bulldozer could run over it and it would retain it's shape. The internal temperature of the container is extremely cold. As for the demolition of the buildings... German engineering at it's best. Those bunkers sure did do their job. Too bad they could not have been incorporated into the new building somehow. Memphis has had some global warming as well. For this area, the temperatures ( -9 degrees C) have been unseasonably cold with Memphis getting about an inch of snow. That does not sound like a lot, but when you begin with drivers who can't drive and you add a slippery surface, this makes the roads like one large bumper car lot. There were something near 120 accidents in an eight hour period on a 20 mile stretch of road. FedEx provides the road clearing equipment to help the city and they still were lost. I don't know how you ride your bicycle. Amazing and I applaud you for being able to navigate the snow and ice. Please stay in touch! We love hearing from you.
  6. Thanks! What is really killing me is that my new bike is here in the states to be delivered around the end of the month and I won't be able to ride it. *cries*
  7. There was a slight memory lapse from me because of my ankle, but I thought I would mention that I got a camera for Christmas. It still has not arrived yet and I was hoping that it would be here today, but maybe at the beginning of next week. Of course, the reason for the delay is the fact that they use UPS and UPS is slower than frozen molasses. Hopefully at the beginning of next week my camera should arrive and then perhaps I can begin taking some pictures. No guarantee that these will be good, just that I can start to play... inside my cage. It will be February before I can go outside and play.
  8. It is a really nice residential area very close to the stores.
  9. I'm sorry to hear that. You would think doctors would be able to do something. Especially in the light that medicine has come a long way. As for me, pictures are better than the story, so check out my Horatio topic.
  10. Congratulations on that step, but it still means that you can come and visit!
  11. Your parents probably would not be so happy when the rabbit started chewing on their antique wood furniture.
  12. Perfect idea. At least it would give you the opportunity to try it. Who knows, you might be even better at another instrument than you are on trumpet.
  13. Lots of great musicals. If I started naming my favorites, it would be about the length of Mushroom_king's signature.
  14. Get used to it. You are very pretty, have a great sense of humour, are smart... everything combined into one package.
  15. There are a couple of ways you can work this. You can talk to your band director, let her know that you are upset and do not want to hear you are too valuable on the trumpet to try another instrument, that she should give you the same opportunity as she gives other members of the band. You can ask your parents to intervene. That sometimes works. Perhaps you could think about trying French Horn, or the other instrument of your choice with a private instructor. Sometimes local music stores would have someone who would allow you to try the instrument a few times. This works in the case where they think they will be selling or renting an instrument.
  16. Fish are wonderful. I wish I could have a tank with lots of fish, but being away, they would die. So... unfortunately for me, no fish.
  17. There are quite a few that would probably get through.
  18. Great minds think alike?
  19. How do you keep them all straight? Hectic would be okay... confusing would not.
  20. Thanks! I had decided to take the scenic walk into town through the neighborhood and was on a street called Chula Vista when it happened.
  21. Disappearing for way, way too long! Glad to see you have stopped back in.
  22. You were missed!!!!!!! Welcome back!!!!! How was your Christmas and New Year? How are you feeling?
  23. Part two... I am back in Memphis and after visiting the doctor, I have this new addition. The boot. The boot hurt from the moment it was put on my leg. I tried walking and it was really, really painful. Gee... I thought this was supposed to make the ankle feel better? The next morning I called the doctor's office to tell them about the boot. As they had already mentioned the day before, no appointments before the 5th of January. *cries* First thing this morning I head over to the doctors office, new plan... the cast. After selecting my colour... black, of course. My first instinct was a neon colour such as pink, orange, green or blue, but those would clash with my clothing choices and I would have to coordinate. So, I went with your basic black. Blends in with my jeans. The good news is that my ankle should have been in the cast all along. It feels so much better. I can still go to the gym, swim, whatever I want. Whoo Hoo!!!!
