  1. This trip is an around the world adventure. We left Memphis and dead-headed to Indianapolis, then flew to Anchorage, Alaska. The morning we arrived in Anchorage it was nice and warm, but that evening, the snow started and anywhere else in the USA, it would be called a blizzard, but in Alaska, it was just "heavy" snow. As we got ready to depart early the next morning, there was quite an accumulation. From Anchorage we flew to Taipei, Taiwan. The weather was quite foggy and did not allow us a view of the countryside so I was a little disappointed. Unfortunately we had a short layover and left at noon the next day, but I hope to return. From Taipei, it was a short flight of and hour and twenty minutes to Hong Kong. Again, fog blocked any chance of seeing any scenery. Today it is still foggy. There is absolutely NO view. Grrrrr. Finally I get a room with a view and... NO view, except fog. Well, we have another day here and then we are off to Paris. Paris is one of my most favourite cities, so I am quite excited. When I can get a picture of the view without the fog, then I will post both pictures so you can view the difference.
  2. Very good idea. Colds can drain your strength and vitality, impacting your studies. When you are traveling from one continent to another, and you get dehydrated, which you will... then colds seem to be arriving with an attitude. The last cold I had lasted ten days and I had no desire to get out of bed. It was the most brutal cold I have had in a long time. Since that cold, I have been washing my hands more and keeping them away from my face. This has helped Immensely. No need for any antibacterial stuff, just good old soap and water.
  3. *watches some of Jesusfreak's tumbleweeds as they roll across the screen*
  4. I am stunned! No pyrotechnics for the new year. Perhaps that would be a great career choice for you.
  5. I am sorry that you are putting so much stress on yourself... it will soon be over and you will have done quite well!
  6. You know you are getting old when... ...you do not know any of the New Year's Eve performers and Dick Clark cannot get any more facelifts and starts to look old.

That's great. I had no idea some of the donation places shipped the clothing to other towns. One of my favourite is the Good Will domestic violence department. What is donated specifically to the domestic violence is not put in the Good Will general area. These donations go just to victims of domestic violence. They use all items, even things such as shower cutains, bath mats, silverware, dishes, furniture, some things you would never think about. If you consider that the families are setting up new homes, they can use everything. My other favourite is the Paralyzed Veterans association.

Nice to know that you and Shane had a terrific week, although I would not have expected anything less. The proposal is coming. Good things take time. Enjoy the shopping, I know I would not want to be in the stores while everyone was out in mass, looking for great deals. So, I admire you!!! When you weed out your clothes, please think of donating them to one of the charities. They will usually give you a receipt to use for taxes, but I do not know if you will need that. It is good to have either way. On my way back from Hong Kong to Memphis, we are leaving the hotel in one hour and fifteen minutes, so I am going to run. Congratulations on the raise! I know you needed that.
  9. We went out for dinner and the restaurant had balloons ready for the midnight gong... I am pretty happy I was not underneath the opening of the net.
  10. What no pyrotechnics????? I am so disappointed! LOL I would have thought you would have had at least a few leftovers from the Fourth of July.
  11. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!!! May 2012 bring you good health, much happiness, inner peace and lots and lots of love! Horatio
  12. *ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding* We have a winner!!!!! Hand that - Kat - some pin tac please! It is what is called a Traveler Palm. But you did not say... was the photograph good, bad or *fill in the blank*?
  13. Here is a photograph I took one evening in Singapore...

  15. Family, even for someone in good health, can wear you out on the holidays. Hope she had the energy to keep her strength up!
  16. Sounds like a great Christmas to me. Much better than hanging out all Christmas day in the airport trying to ride on Dragon Air from Narita to Hong Kong, then take almost two hours for a 25 mile ride from Hong Kong to Shenzhen.
  17. Mandarin Chinese... how exciting!!! Awesome choice and a very intelligent decision. If you go, please do let me know as we stay in ALL the cities that you will be in. It would be outstanding to be able to follow your progress and see how you are enjoying China. Good news that you are doing well. We miss seeing you and are so pleased that you stopped in.

Well I guess that things are finally going your way!!!!! Wonderful news!!!!! Although you will not be fully employed at Dress Barn, the discount is great and being able to fill in and work holidays and perhaps summer, might be a great alternative. Hopefully you will post good news after seeing Shane for the Christmas break. I do not believe you are reading too much into it as you both have discussed the topic before. Perhaps he misses you so much he just needs to make things permanent. Lastly, I am thrilled to hear that you are happy with your job. This is outstanding as far as a career move and hopefully it will be something that can offer you more options, whether in Connecticut or New Jersey. At least you can now state that you have 'experience'!!!!!
  19. Unfortunately I am only back for one more day and then off to Narita. You could always stow away in my luggage.
  20. Perhaps, but you are an amazing artist!!!!!
  21. I have been in China and for some reason I could not access HampsterDance. Not only the boards, but my email and some other websites. That was not fun. Anyway, I am going to search the airfares just out of curiosity. Will report back to you.
  22. I have too short of an attention span for life. And simple math for me does not exceed counting higher than the number of digits on my paws.
  23. Unfortunately, I tried to like your post, my first one EVER... and here was the message I received... and it will not even let me attach anything. So, I clicked on the "advanced loader using Flash 9" and voila, the option to add into post appeared! Actually you might be able to find some low fares. I would really recommend Japan. Of course, I love Paris, all of France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and, and, and... Oh, and you had better ask - Kat - to go with you, she is fluent in Japanese and traveling there is #1 on her list.
