  1. Does West Haven have a hill? I am trying to remember where it happened. And remember, a little hill that seems like nothing in a car can be a great downhill to a bicycle.
  2. The ticket cost me $150!!!!! I was doing mid-thirties in a 15 or 20, can't remember which. Anyway, it was this freshly paved, smooth, pristine asphalt road, on the longest downhill... a magnificent piece of road and I was picking up speed. Whoa... what a feeling. I guess what really made the officer mad was that I wouldn't stop until I had reached the bottom. Anyway, I blew through the school zone feeling like I was flying. It was awesome! I still remember that feeling as if it had happened yesterday. Then I heard the siren. Never did I think he was pulling me over. He asked for my driver's license and I told him that I didn't have it on me, but gave him all my other identification. If I had given him my driver's license, I am certain he would have tried to put points on it. And just to let you know... this happened in Connecticut. LOL Seriously??? I thought they only did stuff like this in like, Princeton. Where in CT were you? I was somewhere near Yale. It was either West Haven or New Haven, I believe. My journey took me from Long Island across the Sound by ferry, through Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts to Cape Cod, then back through Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, through the city, across Staten Island, into New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland before heading back to Long Island. Wait..... Bike bike, like petals and all. Or motorcycle? Bicycle.
  3. Wanted to add some more pictures... Bugs on the remnants of the butterfly flowers: A spider web:

  6. I know you will. Sitting doesn't seem to be an option for you.
  7. I think that's a great compliment as you beat the competition from both sexes!!!
  8. I didn't know that. For some reason, I thought it was to protect children going to school in the morning. In Indiana, there is Daylight Savings Time, Eastern Standard Time and Farm Time. There is actually a zone where the farmer's have their own time.
  9. You also have this stupid stuff in the US? I really hate the time change. Studies say that it even fails to achieve its goal (saving energy). Now energy is saved in the morning, but more energy is consumed in the evening. I don't like that it is dark now at 5:30 pm over here. And around Christmas it is even more than half an hour earlier. When I come home now it is already dark. And I just broke my bicycle light. I hope the cops will not catch me until I get a new one. I had no idea the police would give you a ticket for a broken bicycle light. Once I received a speeding ticket on my bicycle. That hurt! I was speeding in a school zone. Big, big, BIG fine. As for me, I don't like it getting dark early.
  10. *waits patiently for one week to pass*
  11. Always when you are not looking to date anyone... guys seem to be coming out of the woodwork to date you. Sounds like you have your hands full.
  12. You can always count on a manager who knows how to mess up your holiday.
  13. Dell wasn't thinking. A ten-inch screen wouldn't make it worth carrying around. Your father and all of you are in my prayers for a successful outcome and job offer. Michigan is a great state, and I think you would love it there, has severe economic problems due to the loss of many jobs in the automotive industry. Then comes the trickle-down effect and no one escapes being hurt. One of the biggest problems with home ownership is when you lose your job, are unable to find another one in the same area with similar pay, then if the economy is bad, you are unable to sell your house. Fortunate for you, your family rented, so it is very easy to pick up and go where the job is. That is one reason why there is not as much competition for this job, people are stuck where they were before due to owning their house and not being able to sell. Glad something is going in your favour. Hope you find a house you like. I am certain you will. Your father will have lots to consider, such as his morning commute and when the snow hits, that always makes the commute a whole lot slower. BLT's are the greatest!!! I think I would have had to try one and think about the cardiac arrest later. It totally would be worth it! Please let us know how things go. We are here waiting for the good news!!!
  14. Actually I have mine time set on GMT, so it is matches my Zulu time for work. That is six hours ahead of your time.
  15. Last night we decided to go to a local auction... just to observe the characters. It was lots of fun and a great way to spend a couple hours.
  16. I've not seen any negative facets of moving there, not being so fond of my peers here in Texas. But I've been here too long, being almost, almost comfortable in 80F. I forgot to mention that they asked us three weeks in advance to make plans to travel up there, but even after we committed to go, they didn't buy the tickets until yesterday. Minor detail, there will be a three-hour layover in Detroit. Don't know what i'll do in that time. Probably walk around and stare at funny-looking people. This is incredibly fantastic news for your father. Hope you like it up there, which I am certain you will.
  17. How fortunate you were to be there to hear her talk. I think I would have cried when the mother spoke of how she could not recognize her own daughters. How emaciated they must have been. You are so right... the words cannot come to describe the experience.
  18. Horatio

    My place. :)

Outstanding for the relationship!!! If you haven't told Phil, he probably has figured it out by now. Shane sounds like a perfect guy for you as he seems quite considerate and is not afraid to express himself about his feelings. Hope this works out! Halloween parties can be awesome. Glad to hear everyone enjoyed themselves where you were. I love Pandora. Great website.
  19. oooooh snap. I once thought my grandma was old. :c HampsterKing is not old... he is ancient!!!
  20. Mushroom_king... we are here for you to vent all you want. It is totally understandable why you are upset. Your boyfriend needs to stop his jerkiness and treat you a whole lot better.
  21. oh ho ho ho so like 8 months and several hundred frozen burritos later, we're making progress. Some time in August, my dad caved in and got a temporary job at a local high school. A teacher's salary is about 1/4 an engineers, BUT it was $30k more than we were making before. In the last month or so, a company up in Charlevoix Michigan has been doing many phone interviews and the like with my Dad, and they've gone pretty well. As near as we can figure, he's the top candidate out of about 8 for a Quality Control Manager. This last weekend, they bought him a plane ticket to come up for a real, physical interview. So he made many preparations, expected a difficult interview with those questions like "tell me about yourself" "what kind of salary range are you looking for?" (if you say too low, they fulfil that request and give you the lowest salary in the whole plant. if you say too high, you cost too much and they wont hire you.) or other risky questions. This was more of "how soon can you move here?" as if they had already made the decision to hire him. So that went well. This weekend, they have already bought three tickets for him and his family [my parents and I] to fly up there for a weekend, and see if we're comfortable living there. I'm no expert on this matter, but I think that's a strong indication that they're serious about this job if they pay for your family to come up just to take a look around. Interestingly enough, they didn't handle the finance very well. If you plan ahead and buy plane tickets like 3 weeks in advance, they're a LOT cheaper. ~$500 apiece. They bought the tickets just yesterday, and we're leaving tomorrow. $1250 each. Almost $4,000 to fly us up there for a day or two just to see if we want to live there. I just hope that expense goes to corporate, cause thats a big chunk of money for something frivolous. Flight leaves at 7:40 AM, need to be at the airport at about 6:00, need to leave at about 3 in the morning. Might just pull an all-nighter :B Dont know how soon, or even if we'll make that switch, working at the high school is weighing us down somewhat. I don't much want to stay for the rest of the semester. :c OMG Arkcher!!! If the company bought tickets for you, it is a done deal. The only question is if you and your parents like the area and how soon can you move. The reason they did not think ahead, was companies do not do that. If they want to hire you, they will do whatever it takes to get the job done and your father must have WOWed them!!! I have been wondering, but was afraid to ask. Now I am so very, very thrilled. BTW, you will love Michigan. It is FREEZING there in the winter and summers are not anywhere near to what you are used to. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR FATHER!!! We are all so very happy to hear the absolutely incredible great news. Have a terrific flight! They are probably having you sit in business class which is a lot more comfortable than the back. I will be on pins and needles until you return with the news.
  22. Outstanding!!! What an amazing opportunity to learn. Please let us know how the visit turns out. Your play should be a phenomenal success. Blackberry Tour!!! Have fun with that!
