  1. I'll let HampsterKing know. Thank you!!! Awesome! And you're welcome. I figured it's been awhile since anyone posted some non-member-related avatars, and I had some fun pictures that weren't doing anything productive, so i put two and two together.
  2. Oh TBFOF... I am so sorry to hear this. What I suggest is that you express your condolences by saying that you are very sorry for her loss. You don't need to say too much, just let her know how sorry you are. Perhaps someone else has some better words of advice. Well, she lives in Memphis, so I wasn't sure if I should call her up and say it, or just to leave it. And should I give her more...time? You could give her a call. I think she would appreciate your thoughts. If it just happened today, you could wait until tomorrow if you thought today would be too soon. You could always ask your mother for advice. She would be able to tell you if today was okay or tomorrow. Please stop in Warm Wishes and write a post to Nutzky for me please. He would greatly appreciate hearing from you. She has no idea. I'm not even supposed to know yet, or something. What if I send her a card, because when my grandpa passed, she sent me a card. And I'm a horrible speaker, and I laugh when I get nervous, I don't want to do that. I agree with Jesusfreak. Sending a card is an excellent idea. This is a great way for your to express your sympathy to her and her family. Aiiiiiiiight. Good. Haha, and I found a site that gives you 7 key points to address when writing letters of condolence. =] Awesome! Deaths are such awkward things to deal with.....
  3. I got bored and made some avatars for the boards. I'm going to post them here, but if I'm supposed to do something else with them, let me know.

    That's awesome! Congrats!
  5. I totally agree. Like they have gay pride parades, but can you imagine what would happen if someone wanted to have a straight pride parade? Or how they have scholarships for minorities but not for white people? Yeah, that always bothered me.
  6. lol already done. Thanks! I appreciate your post. No problem. I actually noticed his new post and replied right before I saw your post telling me to do so. Hopefully asking. LOL Thanks so, so much. Nutzky is over there until October. October, wow. That's both a long time and not such a long time at the same time lol. Oh yeah, yesterday. After going out for food with my family, I went over to Phil's house for his sister's graduation party (she just graduated from college), and it was a lot of fun. Phil's family is a lot like my mom's side of the family, only two or three times the size. So they were all really nice and really easy to get along with, and it wasn't awkward at all, which is something I was kinda worried about. What a great day for you yesterday! Congratulations to your sister! Graduation is always a great milestone to have behind you!!! Meeting Phil's family... PHEW! Glad that is behind you and it was in such a pleasant setting. That must have made things a whole lot easier. October... passes quickly unless you are over in Iraq. The summer will be brutal for them and hopefully he returns home to his family safe and sound. lol Phil's sister, not mine. My sister is a year younger than me. And I'm glad meeting Phil's family went well too. I know sometimes that sort of thing can be horridly awkward, but it wasn't at all, and I was quite thankful for that. It'll be interesting to see how Phil reacts if he gets to meet my extended family. And yeah, I can imagine that summer in Iraq wouldn't be fun times. >_< I'm so guilty of not totally reading. Haha it's okay. I do that all the time, but usually it's because I'm tired. It would be nice if I could use that excuse. I was totally wide awake. Haha You always have the "blond hamster" excuse. That's it!!! My blonde hamster fur blinded the words on the page. *hands Jesusfreak a cookiefun in appreciation* Hahaha Thank you!

    College

Yeah, you've got time. Just remember to get a good idea of what you want to do *before* you pick a college if you can. As for deciding what to do, think about your favorite academic subjects and things you enjoy doing, and think about what careers they could turn into. I enjoy helping people and teaching, and I was always good at science. So I'm elementary ed and psychology and I'll probably declare a middle school science minor. So I could be a middle school science teacher, or with the psychology degree I could be a psychiatrist, counselor, or something like that. Just make sure you major in something you enjoy, and if you find out you don't like your major, switch it while you still have time. Most college students switch their major at least once. The problem is, I'm interested in a couple of subjects, and do well at all of them! (Sorry, not trying to brag or anything...) I like math & science, and I also like English. (Though I dislike history.) I'm taking AP chem next year, along with honors Pre-calc, Honors physics, Honors English, Honors US History, Religion, Band, Gym. I've only been on one official college tour so far, at Northwestern, where my dad went. It's pretty far away (I live in NY state), but so far I don't have too much to judge it against. This summer, my parents & I will probably visit other colleges, and I'll have more experience with all of this! And thanks for posting about dorms - it was very interesting! ~Liz Keep in mind though, it's not just doing well in, but enjoying learning about certain subjects that's important. I did well in English too, but I didn't really enjoy learning about it. Take some time to sit and think about things that are really fun and interesting to you. As for colleges, I did an online search at the same website where you register for the SATs, and that's how I found my college. It's spiffy. But the thing is, I really do enjoy math, science, and English! But of course, it might be a bit difficult to major in all three of them. And I like working with computers (although I don't know as much as Arkcher!) I probably got that from my parents, both of them used to work at IBM. My mom has a degree in computer science, my dad in Electrical engineering. So I've grown up thinking that was cool too! Now to narrow it all down... ~Liz Math + Science = Physics. I started out as a physics major, but I found I didn't enjoy college math and science courses as much as the ones I took in high school. They're *really* hard. I think part of the problem is that college professors aren't required to have a background in education, so a lot of them just can't teach. Psychology is fun if you enjoy learning about how people think and act, and things like that. There's a bit of math involved when you learn about doing research (nothing beyond Algebra II), and there's English involved in writing up abstracts and things like that. Science concepts include some basic biology (especially that of the brain and nerves), and chemical things like hormones. Biopsychology focuses on the biological aspects of psychology. Oh, and the math parts of psychology, at least for my class, involved using a computer program to do the more complicated math. So there's computers involved too.

  14. lol I saw the topic title and my mind immediately jumped to, "The B.I.B.L.E.....yes that's the book for me! I stand alone on the word of God, the B.I.B.L.E.!" lol that was the first song I could play on the guitar by memory when I was taking guitar lessons back in the day. As for basic instructions before leaving earth, are you familiar with the song by the same name?

  17. Today was a busy day. Mom woke me up a bit early so I could go with her and grandma to Denny's for lunch, which was pretty good. After that we did some grocery shopping. When I got home, I played the sims 2 for awhile, then ate dinner, then more sims, then helped dad put something together, and then was trying to finish up what I was doing with the sims when I had to drive my sister to walgreens to get an inhaler and some medication because her allergies and the sheer amount of cat fur and dust in the house made her start coughing uncontrollably. >_< So yeah, today was busy. Tomorrow's going to be equally crazy. Tomorrow I have church, then I have to go out and pick up a corsage thing for mom for grandma for mother's day, as well as something for Phil's sister because she graduates college tomorrow. We have reservations for a mother's day lunch thing at 2:30. When I get back, I'm going to Phil's sister's graduation party. Oh, and as of tomorrow Phil and I will have been going out for one month.

lol you're like a math prodigy, you'll do fine I'm sure. How did the first one go?
  19. Awesome! I remember once last year when I was at college, someone from my church mailed me some chocolate right before midterms, and it totally made my day. 110 degrees...crazy. That's like twice the temperature here. Sandstorms are something I have never experienced, and knowing the nature of sand and wind, not something I care to experience. o.O What exactly do you guys do during sand storms anyways? Like how do you prepare for / deal with them?
  20. Exactly. No one should be forced to pray, and no one should be banned from praying. I don't see what's so complicated in that.

    College

    1) I think that different locations have their advantages and disadvantages. My college is in a suburban area. Everything we really need is on campus, and anything off campus worth going to requires a car, and most people have a car on campus (or at least have friends who do). Every saturday there's a free shuttle that goes to the local shopping places. It's nice because it's a safe neighborhood, but there's nothing within walking distance. A city environment is cool because things are closer and you don't need a car to get everywhere, and there's probably more to do. However, depending on the area, crime might be a bit of a concern. There are lots of places you can go for cooking I think, and being able to go for free would be awesome. I still suggest trying to live on campus if you can though, either way. 2) Study abroad sounds like an awesome idea! I would do it if I had the time and money for it. So yes, definitely something to consider.
